Hypoxia-Preconditioned Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells Improved Cerebral Collateral Circulation and Stroke Outcome in Mice
CONCLUSIONS: BMSCs increased collateral circulation and improved poststroke outcomes, through the upregulation of Rabep2. These effects were enhanced by hypoxic preconditioning.PMID:37226732 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.122.318559

Danhong injection improves neurological function in rats with ischemic stroke by enhancing neurogenesis and activating BDNF/AKT/CREB signaling pathway
In this study, we aimed to determine the effect of DHI on long-term neurological function recovery after cerebral ischemia and explored the related mechanisms. Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) was used to establish an IS model in rats. The efficacy of DHI was assessed using neurological severity scores, behaviors, cerebral infarction volume and histopathology. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to assess hippocampal neurogenesis. An in vitro oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) cell model was constructed and western-blot analyses were performed to verify the underlying mechanisms. Our results show...

Mitochondrial transplantation and immune response of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells for the Therapeutic of ischemic stroke
Curr Stem Cell Res Ther. 2023 May 5. doi: 10.2174/1574888X18666230505103407. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIschemic stroke is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with increasing incidence and mortality, imposing a significant social and economic burden on patients and their families. However, cerebral vascular occlusion leads to acute loss of neurons and destruction of synaptic structures. The limited treatment options cannot adequately address intra-neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction due to stroke. Therefore, stem cell-derived mitochondria transplantation plays an important role in neuronal protection and...

Rat BM-MSCs secretome alone and in combination with stiripentol and ISRIB, ameliorated microglial activation and apoptosis in experimental stroke
CONCLUSION: STP and trans ISRIB, alone and in combination with rat BM-MSCs secretome, might be considered as potential neuroprotective agents in the acute ischemic stroke (AIS) management.DATA AVAILABILITY STATEMENT: Data will be made available on reasonable request.PMID:37146724 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbr.2023.114471

Synergistic effects of electroacupuncture and bone marrow stromal cells transplantation therapy in ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that the combination treatment significantly improved restoration of neurological deficits in the animal stroke model. However, further studies are required to see if EA could promote the rapid differentiation of BMSC into neural stem cells in the short term.PMID:37140285 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32106

Mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases: From mechanisms to therapy
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 May 2;163:114817. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.114817. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (CVDs) remain an intractable problem and have high morbidity and mortality worldwide, as well as substantial health and economic burdens, representing an urgent clinical need. In recent years, the focus of research has shifted from the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for transplantation to the use of their secretory exosomes (MSC-exosomes) for the treatment of numerous CVDs, including atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF), ischemia/reperfusio...
