Brain findings on FDG PET-MRI body sequences that include the head
Conclusions FDG PET-MRI imaging is a rapidly evolving modality that is most commonly employed for cancer evaluation. The standardized base of skull to mid thigh imaging may miss many important pathologies that are discovered even with MRI body sequences. We propose that PET-MRI body sequences that include the head may show added value in the management of patients.

Early detection of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity using the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) targeted radiotracer, 99mTc-RP805.
Conclusions Increases in myocardial MMP activity precede clinically used echocardiographic indices for early detection of cardiotoxicity, including ejection fraction and global myocardial strain. Therefore, 99mTc-RP805 may serve as a promising approach for early detection of DOX-induced cardiotoxicity when combined with SPECT/CT imaging.

Effects of neoadjuvant chemo or chemoradiotherapy for oesophageal cancer on perioperative haemodynamics: A prospective cohort study within a randomised clinical trial
CONCLUSION: Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for oesophageal or gastrooesophageal junction cancer seems to induce only a marginal negative effect on cardiac function compared with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. This difference did not remain when patients’ haemodynamics were challenged by surgery.

Cardiac comorbidity in head and neck cancer patients and its influence on cancer treatment selection and mortality: a prospective cohort study
AbstractComorbidity assessment and a profound cardiac examination were implemented into pre-treatment diagnostics to analyze their influence on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) therapy selection and short-term mortality. Comorbidity was measured prospectively in 49 HNSCC patients using standard indices between 2012 and 2013. Cardiac examinations included electrocardiogram, echocardiography, and bicycle ergometry. Associations between long-term serum platinum and neurotoxicity and ototoxicity, endocrine gonadal function, and cardiovascular disease in testicular cancer survivors.
CONCLUSION: Median 19 years after treatment, increasing quartiles of se-Pt are associated with increasing SCIN score, tinnitus, hearing impairment, and increasing LH levels. However, these associations remained significant only for tinnitus and LH when adjusting for administered cisplatin dose.

MDI Biological Laboratory receives funds for research on nerve damage
(Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory) The MDI Biological Laboratory has announced that it has received a grant of $456,500 over two years from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the study of peripheral neuropathy. The grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke will support research conducted by assistant professor Sandra Rieger, Ph.D., on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, a disabling condition causing pain, numbness, tingling and temperature sensitivity in the distal extremities.

Thromboembolism that occurs in association with a malignant tumor is known as Trousseau syndrome. We herein present a case of Trousseau syndrome during systemic chemotherapy for metastatic colon cancer.
