Risk of peripheral artery disease and stroke in migraineurs with or without aura: a nationwide population-based cohort study
Conclusion: Migraineurs without established cardiovascular disease had a significantly increased risk of PAD and stroke, and the risk of stroke persists in migraineurs with or without aura, with an increased trend of PAD in migraineurs with aura. Our study result should remind clinical physicians of the risk of PAD in the future among migraineurs even without established cardiovascular disease currently, and screening for PAD and stroke may be needed in caring patients with migraine.PMID:35919822 | PMC:PMC9339415 | DOI:10.7150/ijms.72119

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 13108: Correlation between Endophthalmitis and Stroke Development in Ankylosing Spondylitis Patients: A Population-Based Cohort Study
Conclusions: Our studies showed that endophthalmitis increases the risk of stroke in AS patients and endophthalmitis is an independent risk factor for stroke in AS patients. Nonetheless, advanced studies that thoroughly investigate the correlation between endophthalmitis and stroke in AS patients are needed to validate our findings.

Hyperuricemia and the risk of ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation — Could it refine clinical risk stratification in AF?
Conclusions: Hyperuricemia was a significant risk factor of stroke which could potentially refine the clinical risk stratification in AF. It deserves a prospective trial to investigate whether it would change the current strategy for stroke preventions using oral anticoagulants.

Young stroke patients are at high risk for subsequent end-stage renal disease: a population-based observational study
Conclusions Increased risk of ESRD in stroke patients is confirmed in Taiwan, and male patients between ages 25 and 44 years were at higher risk of ESRD compared with their counterparts in the general population. The clinical implication of our results is to closely monitor renal function in stroke patients, particularly those of younger age.

Abstract 270: Primary and Specialty Care Follow-up Appointments after Stroke: Rates, Variability, and Opportunities for Improvement Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: A high proportion of patients with acute stroke failed to have a primary care or specialty care follow-up appointment scheduled prior to discharge and this varied widely across participating hospitals.
