TICI-RANKIN mismatch: Poor clinical outcome despite complete endovascular reperfusion in the ETIS Registry
CONCLUSION: Despite complete reperfusion after EVT, half of patients had a poor clinical outcome. These patients, who were mainly older with a high initial NIHSS and an unfavorable post-EVT 24h NIHSS change, could represent a target population for early neurorepair and neurorestorative strategies.PMID:36804012 | DOI:10.1016/j.neurol.2022.10.003

Thrombolysis and thrombectomy for stroke in octogenarians and nonagenarians: A regional observational study
DISCUSSION: IVT and MT improve early neurological recovery and functional outcome at discharge of both octogenarians and nonagenarians in current practice. Despite a poorer outcome for nonagenarians than octogenarians, these reperfusion treatments should not be withheld on the basis of age only.PMID:37596186 | DOI:10.1016/j.neurol.2023.03.023

Accuracy of Video-Based Gait Analysis Using Pose Estimation during Treadmill Walking Versus Overground Walking in Persons after Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Video-based gait analysis using pose estimation provides accurate measurements of step length, step time, and hip and knee kinematics during overground and treadmill walking in persons after stroke. Generally, sagittal videos of overground gait provide the most accurate results.IMPACT: Many clinicians lack access to expensive gait analysis tools that can help identify patient-specific gait deviations and guide therapy decisions. These findings show that video-based methods that require only common household devices provide accurate measurements of a variety of gait parameters in persons after stroke and could ...

Initiation and continuation of oral anticoagulant prescriptions for stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation: A cohort study in primary care in France.
CONCLUSIONS: Non-persistence (treatment discontinuation or switch) with vitamin K antagonists was lower than with rivaroxaban and dabigatran in French primary care; however, non-persistence with the newest drug, apixaban, was similar to vitamin K antagonists. Larger studies with longer follow-up are needed to support these findings. This study is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02488421). PMID: 29398546 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischaemic stroke in patients on direct oral anticoagulants
ConclusionsIn this expert opinion paper, it is suggested that IVT can be performed in patients selected according to the time elapsed since the drug was last taken, renal function, type of hospital where the patient is admitted and plasma concentration of DOAC.

Comparison of stroke risk according to sinus node disease, atrial fibrillation and bradycardia-tachycardia syndrome: A French nationwide cohort-study
ConclusionPatients with SND have a lower risk of thromboembolic events than those with AF or BTS. However, SND patients with a CHA2DS2-VASc score ≥ 2 had a markedly higher risk of IS during follow-up and may need specific considerations.

Apixaban for prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation in France: The PAROS cross-sectional study of routine clinical practice.
CONCLUSIONS: Initiation of apixaban versus NOACs was more common among patients with increased age, higher bleeding risk and decreased renal function, whereas initiation of apixaban versus VKAs was more common among patients with lower bleeding risk and better renal function. Additional validation study and French cross-cultural adaptation of the Pediatric Stroke Outcome Measure–Summary of Impressions (PSOM-SOI)
Conclusion: The IRR of the French PSOM-SOI gave variable results depending on the item and rater’s experience, but the extent of disagreements was minor for individual items and total score. Additional prospective validation studies using the French PSOM-Short Neurological Exam to score the PSOM-SOI are needed. A dichotomized total score (cutoff ≤ 0.5) could be used to define normal function versus poor outcome.
