Evaluation of a hypertension-based patient education program in a stroke center
Conclusion Education can improve stroke patient knowledge, which may enhance medication adherence and blood pressure control. Such programs should be developed even early after a stroke.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of mechanical thrombectomy plus tissue-type plasminogen activator compared with tissue-type plasminogen activator alone for acute ischemic stroke in France.
CONCLUSION: Although there is no universally accepted willingness-to-pay threshold in France, our analysis suggest that MT combined to IV-tPA can be considered a cost-effective treatment compared with IV-tPA alone. PMID: 30642680 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Age and Outcome after Endovascular Treatment in Anterior Circulation Large-Vessel Occlusion Stroke: ETIS Registry Results
Conclusion: Patient age is strongly associated with functional outcome after EVT for acute ischemic stroke. The positive effect of thrombectomy persists in older age groups, even after adjustment for prognostic factors related to poor functional outcome. Stroke physicians should provide EVT irrespective of the patient ’s age.Cerebrovasc Dis

O-042 Incidence of periprocedural stroke with radial access for diagnostic cerebral angiograms
ConclusionIn our experience, transradial access for diagnostic cerebral angiograms was associated with a low but not neglectable incidence of periprocedural strokes when compared to the traditional femoral approach. Patient vascular anatomy should be evaluated prior to selection of vascular access and patients should be made aware of the possibility of a slightly higher possibility of periprocedural stroke with transradial access.Abstract O-042 Table 1 Patient Age Access Vessels catheterized Catheter used Radial Medication Contrast Fluoro Time Platelet Count INR GFR COVID Status Stroke Symptoms NIHSS Imaging performed 1 5...

Effect of Rehabilitation Setting on Dependence Following Stroke: An Analysis of the French Inpatient Database
Conclusion. This study confirms, on a national level, the functional benefit of specialized rehabilitation in NRC. These results should be useful in the improvement of care pathways, organization of rehabilitation, and discharge planning.

Burden of stroke and other cardiovascular complications in patients with atrial fibrillation hospitalized in France
Conclusion Half a million patients with AF were hospitalized in France in 2012. Cardiovascular-related hospitalizations involved half of these admissions, for a global burden of almost 2 billion, equivalent to 2.6% of total expenditure in French hospitals. Among these hospitalizations stroke/TIA/SE represented costly, but potentially preventable, complications.

Validation of French upper-limb Erasmus modified Nottingham Sensory Assessment in stroke
Conclusions The French EmNSA is a valid and reproducible scale that can be used for comprehensive and accurate assessment of somatosensory modalities in adults post-stroke. Taking less than 30min to administer, the instrument has clinical utility for use in patients with cognitive comorbidities and at various stages of recovery in multidisciplinary clinical practice and research settings.

Pain after stroke: A review.
Authors: Delpont B, Blanc C, Osseby GV, Hervieu-Bègue M, Giroud M, Béjot Y Abstract Pain after stroke (PAS) is a common clinical problem that is both underdiagnosed and undertreated. Yet, it induces depression and cognitive troubles, and impairs quality of life. To provide tools for practitioners, this report describes the most common PAS syndromes, including central post-stroke pain, spasticity and contractures, shoulder pain and complex regional pain syndromes, as well as headache and chondrocalcinosis, along with their risk factors, their prevention and their specific treatments. In addition, to ensure that th...

Neuroanatomical correlates between stroke lesions and urinary disorders: A narrative review.
CONCLUSION: A few cerebral areas damaged by stroke seem to be linked to certain urinary troubles, but new studies with a higher methodological quality are required to confirm this result. PMID: 30527571 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
