Non ‐invasive telemedical care in heart failure patients and stroke: post hoc analysis of TIM‐HF and TIM‐HF2 trials
ConclusionsAnnual rate of ischaemic stroke/TIA in NYHA II/III patients is low but higher in those with elevated NT ‐proBNP levels and history of PAOD at baseline. NITC showed no impact on the stroke rate during 1 year follow‐up despite a significantly higher rate of newly detected AF. Irrespective of known CHF, echocardiography was often missing during in‐hospital diagnostic workup after acute stroke/TIA.

Clinical significance of obstructive sleep apnea in patients with acute coronary syndrome with or without prior stroke: a prospective cohort study
ConclusionsAmong ACS patients, the presence of OSA was associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events in patients with prior stroke. Predictive Risk Factors of In-Hospital Mortality Following Acute Stroke in the United States: Data from the Nationwide Inpatient Database, 2006-2010 (P02.015)
CONCLUSIONS: The rate of in-hospital mortality is relatively high following acute stroke (8.42%). We identified multiple risk factors of in-hospital mortality in acute stroke patients. The strongest risk factor is the type stroke (hemorrhagic). Stroke After Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction: Timing, Characteristics, and Clinical Outcomes Coronary Artery Disease
Conclusions— Stroke is an infrequent complication in the setting of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary PCI but is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Epidemiologic features, risk factors, and outcome of sepsis in stroke patients treated on a neurologic intensive care unit
Conclusions: Sepsis seems to be a frequent complication of stroke patients requiring neurologic ICU treatment. Predictors of sepsis acquisition in our study were comorbidities and severity of deterioration of physiological status, but not stroke severity. A better understanding of risk factors is important for prevention and early recognition, whereas knowledge of outcome may help in prognosis prediction. Further studies are needed to clarify the optimal preventive treatment for these patients.
