In this paper we review the methodological underpinnings of the general pharmacogenetic approach for uncovering genetically-driven treatment effect heterogeneity. This typically utilises only individuals who are treated and relies on fairly strong baseline assumptions to estimate what we term the ‘genetically moderated treatment effect’ (GMTE). When these assumptions are seriously violated, we show that a robust but less efficient estimate of the GMTE that incorporates information on the population of untreated individuals can instead be used. ...

Patients with migraine with visual aura (MwvA) often present to eye care providers for evaluation. A thorough ophthalmological history and examination is needed to exclude ophthalmologic disorders. Additionally, it has been increasingly recognized that MwvA is associated with ischemic stroke (IS). Association of traditional complementary and alternate medicine usage with quality of life of diabetic patients in a Malaysian tertiary hospital
This study aims to design to assess the traditional, complementary and alternate medicine (TCAM) usage and its association with the quality of life (QOL) of Type 2 diabetic patients in a tertiary hospital (Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia) in Malaysia.
A total of 300 respondents included in this study were divided into the following two major categories: TCAM (34.33% of respondents) and non-TCAM users (65.67% of the respondents), respectively. Cerebral venous thrombosis following COVID-19 vaccination
We appreciate the literature review by Abdalkader et al.1 to summarize the clinical epidemiology and features of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Based on the meta-analysis performed by Baldini et al.,2 the estimated proportion of CVT cases among hospitalized patients with COVID-19 was 0.08%; therefore, it is not surprising that COVID-19 associated CVT had not been given much attention compared to the more common deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism events in this patient population.
