High nonfasting triglyceride concentrations predict good outcome following acute ischaemic stroke.
DISCUSSION: Higher fasting and nonfasting serum TG concentrations predicted good poststroke outcome independently of other prognostic factors. PMID: 28683603 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association of hemoglobin glycation index with outcomes of acute ischemic stroke in type 2 diabetic patients.
Conclusion Both low HGI and high HGI was associated with an increased risk of poor prognosis in diabetic patients with ischemic stroke, compared with moderate HGI. PMID: 29560815 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Lp-PLA2 as a risk factor of early neurological deterioration in acute ischemic stroke with TOAST type of large arterial atherosclerosis.
Authors: Wang Y, Hu S, Ren L, Lei Z, Lan T, Cai J, Li C Abstract INTRODUCTION: Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is a well-known risk factor of atherosclerotic vascular diseases. Nevertheless, its role in the acute phase of ischemic stroke is still unclear. The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between Lp-PLA2 levels and early neurological deterioration (END) in acute ischemic stroke patients with Trial of Org 10 172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) subtype of large arterial atherosclerosis (LAA). METHODS: We enrolled Chinese patients with first ever acute ischemic stroke admitt...

Factors associated with medication persistence among ischemic stroke patients: a systematic review.
Conclusions: Stroke patients' medication persistence decreases over time, and persistence on antiplatelets, anticoagulants, and statin was poor. Several factors were associated with medication persistence, and these factors should be considered in future secondary preventative strategies. PMID: 32321382 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Screening for cognitive impairment with the montreal cognitive assessment at six months after stroke and transient ischemic attack.
CONCLUSION: The MoCA-Beijing cutoff score for differentiating CI from NCI after stroke and TIA at six months was at 24/25, and it is important for routine clinical practice. PMID: 32967577 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association of inflammatory and platelet volume markers with clinical outcome in patients with anterior circulation ischaemic stroke after endovascular thrombectomy.
Conclusions: MPV, PDW, and MPV/PC are associated with stroke severity. Higher NLR levels upon admission may predict unfavorable functional outcomes in patients with AIS after undergoing EVT.Abbreviations ACA: anterior cerebral artery; AIS: acute ischemic stroke; ASPECTS: alberta stroke program early CT score; BMI: body mass index; DBP: diastolic blood pressure; END: early neurological deterioration; EVT: endovascular thrombectomy; hs-CRP: high-sensitivity C-reactive protein; HT: hemorrhagic transformation; ICA: internal carotid artery; IL-6: interleukin-6; IS: ischemic progression; LAA: Large-Artery Atherosclerosis; MCA: m...

Application of the P300 potential in cognitive impairment assessments after transient ischemic attack or minor stroke.
Conclusions The P300 latency delay can be used to detect cognitive impairments in patients after TIA/minor stroke and the P300-Fz latency is more sensitive for diagnosing cognitiveimpairments in TIA/minor stroke patients. PMID: 33443462 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vitality index is a predictor of the improvement in the functional independence measure score in subacute stroke patients with cognitive impairment.
DISCUSSION: The vitality index was significantly associated with FIM improvement in subacute stroke patients with cognitive impairment. PMID: 33497321 [PubMed - in process]

Obesity in acute ischaemic stroke patients treated with intravenous thrombolysis therapy
Conclusions: Obesity may be related to long-term prognosis of large group of AIS patients treated with IVT. It depends on the scale of clinical study samples, follow-up time, and evaluation criteria.PMID:34112057 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1939486

No rebound effect after a course of clopidogrel in patients with acute TIA or minor stroke
CONCLUSIONS: No rebound increase in the risk of ischemic stroke and composite events was found during the 90 days after discontinuation of clopidogrel therapy in patients with TIA or minor stroke in the CHANCE trial.TRIAL REGISTRATION: clinicaltrials.gov Identifier: NCT00979589.PMID:35695332 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2075660
