Factors associated with early improvement after intravenous thrombolytic treatment in acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: : Management of factors associated with ENI and determination of treatment strategies accordingly are important for obtaining a better clinical outcome. It can help quickly select patients, who, even though they will not respond to rt-PA, may be appropriate candidates for bridging therapy.PMID:34706632 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1996980

Prediction of hospitalization time and independence level with functional outcomes for patients with acute stroke: a retrospective study
The objective of this study was to develop predictive models for estimating the length of stay (LOS) with standardized clinical outcome measures (Functional Independence Measure, Trunk Impairment Scale, Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke Patients, Fugl Meyer Assessment Scale, and Functional Ambulation Category) during acute care setting.METHODS: One hundred sixty-nine patients were included in the retrospective study. Predictors chosen for the LOS included scores of functional outcome measures at admission. We used Spearman's rank correlation coefficients to calculate correlations among clinical outcome measures and LOS,...

Acute recanalization of carotid stenosis is not proper: an experimental ischaemic stroke study.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that the optimal time to open the CCA stenosis complicating cerebral infarction is at or after 7 days of CCA stenosis. PMID: 25830557 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Neuroprotection by intravenous transplantation of bone marrow mononuclear cells from 5-fluorouracil pre-treated rats in a model of ischemic stroke.
This study was undertaken to further explore the potential mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective effects of BMRMNCs in the same model. Rats were intravenously pre-treated with 5-FU, and BMRMNCs were collected 7 days later and subjected to flow cytometry for detection of CD34, CD45 and CD90. Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) was induced in rats, and BMMNCs and BMRMNCs were independently transplanted via the tail vein at 24 h after MCAO. NISSL staining was performed 14 days after cell transplantation and the viable cells in the hippocampus were counted. Stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1) mRNA expression was d...
