Transgenic rat with overproduction of ubiquitous angiotensin-(1-7) presents neuroprotection in a model of ischemia and reperfusion
Brain Res Bull. 2022 Nov 23:S0361-9230(22)00325-2. doi: 10.1016/j.brainresbull.2022.11.017. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRecent studies showed that angiotensin-(1-7) has cerebroprotective actions in stroke. In the present study, we aim to test whether tissue overexpression of Angiotensin-(1-7), mainly in the brain provides neuroprotection in a model of ischemia/reperfusion by bilateral common carotid arteries occlusion/reperfusion (BCCAo/R). Evaluation of neurological deficit scores and bilateral asymmetry test (BAT) were performed seven days after transient BCCAo/R in transgenic rats (TG-7371) overexpressing Angiotensin-...

NLRP3 inflammasome deficiency attenuates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by inhibiting ferroptosis
CONCLUSION: Inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome alleviates CIRI by inhibiting ferroptosis and inflammation, possibly through a mechanism of the Keap1-Nrf2 pathway.PMID:36435361 | DOI:10.1016/j.brainresbull.2022.11.016

Human-Derived Hair Follicle Stem Cells and Hydrogen Sulfide on Focal Cerebral Ischemia Model: A Comparative Evaluation of Radiologic, Neurobehavioral and Immunohistochemical Results
In conclusion, intracerebral HFBSC treatment after 24 hour of ischemic stroke may be an effective way to reduce the cranial infarct volume, whereas H2S treatment alone or in combination with HFBSC may not be sufficient for ischemic brain injury.PMID:36410427 | DOI:10.1016/j.brainres.2022.148170

A comparative study of different doses of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells improve post-stroke neurological outcomes via intravenous transplantation
CONCLUSIONS: Treatment with MSC restored the sensory and motor function of cerebral ischemia rats, indicating it may be an effective therapy for ischemic stroke.PMID:36379315 | DOI:10.1016/j.brainres.2022.148161

Salidroside attenuates cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by regulating TSC2-induced autophagy
In conclusion, SAL reduces the inflammatory response and oxidative stress in a concentration-dependent manner, and protects against cerebral I/R injury by modulating TSC2-induced autophagy. These findings suggest SAL may prove to be a potential therapeutic agent for ischemic stroke.PMID:36374318 | DOI:10.1007/s00221-022-06493-6

MiR-140-3p directly targets Tyro3 to regulate OGD/R-induced neuronal injury through the PI3K/Akt pathway
CONCLUSIONS: MiR-140-3p directly targets Tyro3 to regulate cell viability and apoptosis of OGD/R-exposed N2a cells through the PI3K/Akt pathway, suggesting that miR-140-3p is a novel biomarker and therapeutic target for ischaemic stroke.PMID:36372373 | DOI:10.1016/j.brainresbull.2022.11.007

Mild-intensity running exercise recovered motor function by improvement of ankle mobility after unilateral brain injury of mice using three-dimensional kinematic analysis techniques
This study aims to evaluate motor dysfunction and recovery after brain damage (BD) with/without mild-intensity running Ex in mice using three-dimensional (3D) kinematic analysis. To determine exercise intensity, C57/BL6-strain male young adult mice were examined in an incremental running test while the pulmonary gas exchange of O2 and CO2 were measured. The animals were then subjected to left hemidecortication as BD, and some mice performed Ex (10 m/min for 30 min 5 times/wk) for 4 weeks. The BD with Ex and BD or sham-operated mice (sham) without (w/o) Ex had their gait recorded by four synchronized cameras, and gait was e...
