Association of body mass index with COVID-19-related neurologic sequelae: a retrospective cohort study
This study demonstrates the absence of an association between BMI and neurologic manifestations following acute COVID-19 illness. Prospective studies using standardized data collection tools and direct measures of body fat are warranted to obtain more valid effect estimates.

Visualization of both proximal M2-MCA segments in patients (the Tilted-V Sign) with acute M1-MCA occlusion stroke is associated with better procedural and prognostic outcomes
ConclusionTilted-V Sign, an easily identifiable radiological marker, is associated with fewer recanalization attempts, better functional outcomes, and reduced mortality.

African Americans and Women Have Lower Functional Gains During Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation After Hemorrhagic Stroke
Conclusions The results of our study indicate that Functional Independence Measure efficiency was worse for African Americans and female patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. Future research should consider these racial and sex disparities and focus on providing targeted rehabilitation therapy.

Factors Predicting Misidentification of Acute Ischemic Stroke and Large Vessel Occlusion by Paramedics
The emergence of thrombectomy for large vessel occlusions has increased the importance of accurate prehospital identification and triage of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Despite available clinical scores, prehospital identification is suboptimal. Our objective was to improve the sensitivity of prehospital AIS identification by combining dispatch information with paramedic impression. We performed a retrospective cohort review of emergency medical services and hospital records of all patients for whom a stroke alert was activated in 1 urban, academic emergency department from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019. Using admi...

Which Patients Receive Diagnostic Angiography? An EAST Multicenter Study Analysis of Internal Carotid Artery Blunt Cerebrovascular Injury
DISCUSSION: DSA is frequently used in ICA BCVI, primarily early in the hospital course for injury diagnosis and grade determination. DSA appears primarily driven by hospital type, BCVI grade, and luminal stenosis.PMID:36417771 | DOI:10.1177/00031348221138083

Interchangeability of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiographic right heart measurements in the perioperative setting and correlation with hemodynamic parameters
AbstractReduction of right ventricular (RV) function after cardiac surgery has been shown to impact outcomes. Conventional indices for right ventricular dysfunction are validated using transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) which has limited use compared to transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) in the perioperative settings. The aim of this study was to assess the agreement of RV systolic function assessment with TEE compared to TTE and assess the association of echocardiographic parameter with hemodynamic indices of RV dysfunction. This was a single center prospective observational study in an academic institution. Fifty adult...

Development and Evaluation of the Algorithm CErtaInty Tool (ACE-IT) to Assess Electronic Medical Record and Claims-based Algorithms ’ Fit for Purpose for Safety Outcomes
ConclusionThe ACE-IT supports a structured, transparent, and flexible approach for decision-makers to appraise whether electronic health record or medical claims-based algorithms for safety outcomes are FFP for a specific decision context. Reliability and validity testing using a larger sample of participants in other therapeutic areas and further modifications to reduce the time needed to complete the assessment are needed to fully evaluate its utility for regulatory decision-making.
