Single antiplatelet therapy directly after percutaneous coronary intervention in non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome patients: the OPTICA study
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides first-in-human evidence that P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy directly following PCI for NSTE-ACS is feasible, without any overt safety concerns, and highlights the need for randomised controlled trials comparing direct P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy with the current standard of care.PMID:36734020 | DOI:10.4244/EIJ-D-22-00886

Safety and efficacy of shortened dual antiplatelet therapy after complex percutaneous coronary intervention: A systematic review and meta - analysis
CONCLUSION: Shortened DAPT signifcantly reduced the odds of major bleedings in patients undergoing complex PCI, without increasing the ischemic events or mortality. Thus, it could be considered as a safe and feasible option in such patients.PMID:36736730 | DOI:10.1016/j.hjc.2023.01.005

Neurology care and the long-term outcomes of atrial fibrillation-related ischaemic stroke in China: median 3-year outcome from a high volume academic tertiary hospital
Conclusions Secondary stroke prevention in AF patients associated with neurology care is challenging in China, as manifested by a lower AF detection rate, significant underuse of OACs, high mortality and recurrent stroke rate. Efforts to increasing the AF detection rate and reinforce education on neurologists should be made to improve neurology care and intensify posthospital management in such patients.

Dual-Tasking in Daily Activities Among Adults With and Without Stroke
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: The initiation of dual-tasking is curtailed in the nondominant and paretic UEs, extending previous laboratory-based findings to a more naturalistic setting. These results may reflect a demand on neural resources that is exceeded when these limbs are used. What This Article Adds: DOPs, a functional strategy to simultaneously engage two objects during ADLs, could serve as a behavioral marker of dual-tasking in real-world activities, supporting their investigation more broadly. Practicing DOPs in rehabilitation could also train the integration of dual-tasking strategies in activity execution.PMID:36...

The U.S. Still Doesn ’ t Have Good COVID-19 Data. Here ’ s Why That ’ s a Problem
Check the COVID-19 Data Tracker from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and you’ll get a rundown of the latest case numbers, hospitalizations, and deaths. Those categories might seem straightforward, but the data, say many experts, are telling us a lot less than we think they are. That’s because it’s getting increasingly difficult to parse who is hospitalized or dies from COVID-19, and who is hospitalized or dies from another reason but with COVID-19. Across the U.S., “COVID-19 hospitalizations” represent all kinds of patients: those who need hospital-level care for sev...

Diabetic Rodent Models for Chronic Stroke Studies
We present different pathophysiological features of diabetes in each rodent model along with the advantages and disadvantages of each model. Utilizing these models may aid the advancement of novel treatments and therapies to lower ischemic brain damage in patients of diabetes.PMID:36715951 | DOI:10.1007/978-1-0716-2926-0_30

Feasibility of Problem-Solving Training During Inpatient Rehabilitation in Patients With Stroke
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: PST among patients with stroke during inpatient rehabilitation was feasible, and participants demonstrated improvements in clinical outcomes and goal attainment. Barriers to participation and adherence should be addressed in future studies. What This Article Adds: Teaching patients problem-solving skills early after a stroke using a metacognitive strategy is feasible and may decrease depression and increase self-efficacy while fostering independent goal setting and problem solving.PMID:36706277 | DOI:10.5014/ajot.2023.050083

Association between the number of academic research consortium for high bleeding risk (ARC-HBR) criteria and clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: ARC-HBR score was independently associated with an increased risk of MACE in patients with ACS after an emergent PCI. Moreover, it had a similar diagnostic ability for predicting MACE within two years compared to the CADILLAC risk score.PMID:36682715 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2023.01.003
