Periprocedural continuation versus interruption of oral anticoagulant drugs during transcatheter aortic valve implantation: rationale and design of the POPular PAUSE TAVI trial
EuroIntervention. 2023 Aug 22:EIJ-D-23-00206. doi: 10.4244/EIJ-D-23-00206. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAbout one-third of patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) use oral anticoagulants (OAC), mainly due to atrial fibrillation. General guidelines advise interrupting OAC in patients with a high risk of bleeding undergoing interventions. However, preliminary observational data suggest that the continuation of OAC during TAVI is safe and may reduce the risk of periprocedural thromboembolic events. The Periprocedural Continuation Versus Interruption of Oral Anticoagulant Drugs During Transcatheter ...

Management of intracranial arterial stenosis during mechanical thrombectomy: Survey of neuro-interventionalists
CONCLUSION: There is notable variability in the diagnosis and management of intracranial stenosis related large vessel occlusion during mechanical thrombectomy. While most respondents felt rescue stenting was risky, the majority believed the benefit could outweigh the risk. The majority of respondents agreed that equipoise exists regarding the management of intracranial stenosis related large vessel occlusion, highlighting the need for clinical trials in this rare patient population.PMID:37606564 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231196618

Epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in Japan: An overview study
J Cardiol. 2023 Aug 15:S0914-5087(23)00200-9. doi: 10.1016/j.jjcc.2023.08.006. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCardiovascular diseases (CVDs), such as heart disease and stroke, have a significant impact on life expectancy, healthy life expectancy, and medical costs in Japan. Each prefecture is currently promoting measures in accordance with the Japanese National Plan for Promotion of Measures Against Cerebrovascular and Cardiovascular Disease, which was established by the government. In recent years, the crude mortality rate of heart disease in Japan has been increasing year by year with the aging population. Meanwhile, the ...
