Aromatase inhibitors use and risk for cardiovascular disease in breast cancer patients: A population-based cohort study

Activation of neuronal Ras ‐related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1) improves post‐stroke recovery and axonal plasticity in mice
We propose that activation of neuronal Rac1 mediates the release of BDNF via PAK1 signaling, which further promotes axonal plasticity and alleviates astrogliosis, and eventually contributes to functional recovery after brain ischemia. Targeting neuronal Rac1 may offer a potential therapeutic target for promoting brain remapping and functional recovery after stroke. Aromatase Inhibitors and the Risk of Cardiovascular Outcomes in Women With Breast Cancer: A Population-Based Cohort Study.
CONCLUSIONS: In this population-based study, aromatase inhibitors were associated with increased risks of heart failure and cardiovascular mortality compared with tamoxifen. There were also trends toward increased risks, although nonsignificant, of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. The increased risk of cardiovascular events associated with aromatase inhibitors should be balanced with their favorable clinical benefits compared with tamoxifen.
