Mortality before and after reconfiguration of the Danish hospital-based emergency healthcare system: a nationwide interrupted time series analysis
Conclusions The Danish emergency care reconfiguration programme was not associated with an improvement in overall in-hospital mortality trends and was associated with a slight slowing of prior improvements in 30-day mortality trends.

CRP, C-Peptide, and Risk of First-Time Cardiovascular Events and Mortality in Early Type 2 Diabetes: A Danish Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONSThe finding of high hs-CRP as a stronger prognostic biomarker of all-cause mortality than of CVEs may facilitate improved early detection and prevention of deadly diseases besides CVEs. Conversely, elevated C-peptide as a strong CVE biomarker supports the need to target hyperinsulinemia/insulin resistance in T2D CVE prevention.

Association between preeclampsia in daughters and risk of cardiovascular disease in parents
AbstractPreeclampsia and cardiovascular disease (CVD) might share heritable underlying mechanisms. We investigated whether preeclampsia in daughters is associated with CVD in parents. In a register-based cohort study, we used Cox regression to compare rates of CVD (ischemic heart disease, ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction) in parents with ≥ 1 daughters who had preeclampsia and parents whose daughters did not have preeclampsia in Denmark, 1978–2018. Our cohort included 1,299,310 parents, of whom 87,251 had ≥ 1 daughters with preeclampsia and 272,936 developed CVD during 20,252,351 years of follow-up (incide...

The Rationalisation of Intra-Operative Imaging During Cardiac Surgery: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: Current data have shown EUS to have superiority over manual palpation and transoesophageal echocardiography in the prevention of CVAs following cardiac surgery. Yet, EUS has not been implemented as a routine standard of care. Extensive adoption of EUS in clinical practice is warranted to aid large, randomised trials before making prospective conclusions on the efficacy of this screening method.PMID:36870922 | DOI:10.1016/j.hlc.2023.01.016

Adult offspring and their socioeconomic resources for development and survival of stroke: A Swedish and Danish nationwide register-based study
CONCLUSIONS: Adult offspring socioeconomic resources are, independently of how we measure them and of individual socioeconomic characteristics, associated with development of stroke in old age in both Denmark and Sweden. The relationships between offspring socioeconomic resources and death after stroke are present especially after the acute phase and most pronounced for educational level as a measure of offspring socioeconomic resources.PMID:36732922 | DOI:10.1177/14034948231152352

Incretin-based therapy of metabolic disease
Dan Med J. 2022 Dec 21;70(1):A10220597.ABSTRACTRecent studies show that incretin hormone analogues effectively control blood glucose while producing major weight losses and reducing the risk of all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction, stroke and kidney function impairment. Furthermore, the risk of dementia and cognitive impairment is reduced. A monomolecular coagonist (tirzepatide) of receptors for both incretin hormones (glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) produced HbA1c values below 5.7% in 50% of the treated patients and weight losses exceeding 20% in obese individuals. These new...
