Feasibility of using the Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance in a population of Danish stroke survivors: Adaptation and study protocol
CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE: The planned feasibility study will contribute to further developing and refining the intervention before performing a possible large-scale effectiveness study.PMID:37726001 | DOI:10.1080/11038128.2023.2258202

Higher habitual dietary intakes of flavanols and anthocyanins differentially associate with lower incidence of ischemic stroke subtypes-A follow-up analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Higher habitual intakes of flavanols and anthocyanins are differentially associated with lower risk of ischemic stroke from atherosclerosis and/or cardioembolism, but not with other subtypes.PMID:37716608 | DOI:10.1016/j.tjnut.2023.09.011

Intracerebral Hemorrhage Among Blood Donors and Their Transfusion Recipients
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: In an exploratory analysis of patients who received red blood cell transfusions, patients who underwent transfusion with red blood cells from donors who later developed multiple spontaneous ICHs were at significantly increased risk of spontaneous ICH themselves. This may suggest a transfusion-transmissible agent associated with some types of spontaneous ICH, although the findings may be susceptible to selection bias and residual confounding, and further research is needed to investigate if transfusion transmission of cerebral amyloid angiopathy might explain this association.PMID:37698562 | DOI:1...

Antidepressant use in people with both physical health problems and depression
Many people with diseases such as cancer or diabetes or those who have had a heart attack or stroke also suffer from depression. How effective are antidepressants for these patients? And are they just as safe for these people as for those without physical health problems? Researchers from Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Aarhus University in Denmark have teamed up to investigate these questions.

Temporal trends of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in Denmark: a nationwide retrospective cohort study
Conclusion There was a consistent rise in HCM cases with decreasing morbidity burden. Females were older at diagnosis and more likely to have their type of HCM classified as obstructive. The rate of outpatient follow-up is increasing.

Management of medical emergency patients in Danish emergency departments
CONCLUSION: Management of MEP varies greatly in Danish Hospitals. A systematic approach to MEP management in line with management of trauma and stroke patients may potentially serve to improve the quality of care for and outcome of this patient group, but further research is needed.FUNDING: None.TRIAL REGISTRATION: Not relevant.PMID:37622648

Long-term Incidence of Ischemic Stroke Following Transient Ischemic Attack: A Nationwide Study During 2014-2020
Conclusions: Patients with first-time TIA had an ischemic stroke incidence of 6.1% during the 5-year follow-up period. Following adjustment for relevant comorbidities, this incidence was approximately five-fold higher than what was found for controls in the background population, and 40% lower than for patients with recurrent ischemic stroke.PMID:37622531 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.065446
