A neglected symptom? Parietal gait lateropulsion as primary manifestation of acute is-chemic stroke
CONCLUSION: We report gait lateropulsion as a novel primary manifestation of acute stroke of the parietal lobe (parietal gait lateropulsion). Given its role as the destination of proprioceptive pathways, parietal strokes can result in gait lateropulsion, with bilateral lesions even mimicking sensory ataxia with bilateral lateropulsion and unsteadiness upon eye closure.PMID:36631966 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7602.2021349

Acute dysphagia: A rare initial symptom of lateral medullary syndrome: A case report
CONCLUSION: The diagnosis of LMS was queried owing to the presentation of the single most important common symptom, with no other characteristic manifestations of LMS.PMID:36582892 | PMC:PMC9793181 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104851

Phenotypic spectrum and clinical course of single large-scale mitochondrial DNA deletion disease in the paediatric population: a multicentre study
Conclusion Our study provides new insights into the phenotypic spectrum of childhood-onset, LMD-associated syndromes. We found a wider spectrum of more prevalent multisystem involvement compared with previous studies, most likely related to a longer time of follow-up.

Association of body mass index with COVID-19-related neurologic sequelae: a retrospective cohort study
This study demonstrates the absence of an association between BMI and neurologic manifestations following acute COVID-19 illness. Prospective studies using standardized data collection tools and direct measures of body fat are warranted to obtain more valid effect estimates.

Diagnostic accuracy of the physical exam in emergency department patients with acute vertigo or dizziness: Systematic review and meta-analysis for GRACE-3
CONCLUSION: Most neurological exam findings have low sensitivity and high specificity for a central cause in patients with acute vertigo or dizziness. In acute vestibular syndrome (monophasic, continuous, persistent dizziness), HINTS and HINTS+ have high sensitivity when performed by trained clinicians.PMID:36453134 | DOI:10.1111/acem.14630

Role of bedside video-oculography in selecting neuroimaging in patients with acute vertigo and ataxia posterior fossa mass lesions
The acute vestibular syndrome ((AVS) is the sudden onset of continuous vertigo, nausea, vomiting and head motion intolerance [1]. The most common peripheral cause is a vestibular neuritis [2], and the most frequent central lesion associated with an AVS is an ischemic stroke in about 10 to 15% of cases [3 –5]; less frequently demyelinating plaques (multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuromyelitis optica (NMO)) [6], and inflammatory lesions associated with infectious and paraneoplastic disorders may be responsible.
