Serum glial fibrillary acidic protein is a body fluid biomarker: A valuable prognostic for neurological disease - A systematic review
Int Immunopharmacol. 2022 Mar 4;107:108624. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2022.108624. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAstrocytes are the most abundant cell type in the human central nervous system, and they play an important role in the regulation of neuronal physiology. In neurological disorders, astrocyte disintegration leads to the release of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) from tissue into the bloodstream. Elevated serum levels of GFAP can serve as blood biomarkers, and a useful prognostic tool to facilitate the early diagnosis of several neurological diseases ranging from stroke to neurodegenerative disorders. This syst...

Eagle Syndrome: A Rare Cause of Stroke in a Young Patient
We report the case of a 26-year-old man who presented to the emergency department because he noticed that his right hand had become clumsy. He first noticed this symptom five days before his presentation, but he noticed that his symptom had improved significantly since it began. He reported that he had episodes of neck pain and pain around the ear. The reliability of gait parameters captured via instrumented walkways: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence suggested that, despite different populations and testing protocols used in the included studies, the test-retest reliability of the examined gait parameters was acceptable under single and cognitive dual-task conditions. Further high-quality studies with powered sample sizes are needed to examine the reliability findings of the currently understudied and unexplored pathologies and test conditions.PMID:34985239 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.22.07037-X

Mini-Review on SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Neurological Manifestations: A Perspective
CNS Neurol Disord Drug Targets. 2021 Jul 6. doi: 10.2174/1871527320666210706103422. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe coronavirus, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus-19), with its rapid rate of transmission, has progressed with a great impact on respiratory function and mortality worldwide. The nasal cavity is the promising gateway of SARS-CoV-2 to reach the brain via systemic circulatory distribution. Recent reports have revealed that the loss of involuntary process of breathing control into the brainstem that results in death is a signal of neurological involvement. Early neurologica...

An Atypical Presentation of Left Lateral Medullary Syndrome & #8211; A Case Report
We report a case of a 62-year-old diabetic, hypertensive male who presented with symptoms involving the left lateral dorsal medulla along with partial Horner's syndrome, left lateral rectus palsy, and left lower motor neuron–type facial palsy. Atypical presentation in LMS could be explained by infraction of left facial colliculus in addition to the left lateral medulla. Association of these entities with Wallenberg's syndrome is atypical features in our case, which questioned the diagnosis of a simple LMS.
