In conclusion, our data support that plasma DAO levels were increased in PSD patients and correlated with brain WMH, independent of age, gender, hypertension, and renal function. Acupuncture May Decrease the Incidence of Post-stroke Dementia: A Taiwan Nationwide Retrospective Cohort Study
Conclusions: The association between stroke and dementia existed in both sexes, more prominent in male. Patients with stroke receiving acupuncture treatments showed decreased risk of dementia. Care must be taken evaluating these results because this study was limited to lack of information regarding lifestyles, stroke severities, and acupuncture methods that were used in treatments.

IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 1944: Stroke to Dementia Associated with Environmental Risks —A Semi-Markov Model
Conclusion: Experiments showed that the proposed semi-Markovian model outperformed other benchmark diagnosis algorithms (i.e., linear regression, decision tree, random forest, and support vector machine), with a high R2 of 90%. The proposed model also facilitated an accurate prognosis on the transition time of stroke from chronic diseases to dementias against environmental risks and rehabilitation factors.

Cognitive dysfunction predicts worse health-related quality of life for older stroke survivors: a nationwide population-based survey in Taiwan.

Significant Destructive Interaction of BDNF Val > Met Polymorphism with Stroke Severity and Family History of Dementia for Cognitive Impairments.
CONCLUSION: It can be speculated that presence of Val/Met heterozygosity has a destructive interaction with the SS and FHD for decreasing the cognitive function, particularly in attention and language domains. Our findings suggested that the inhibition of signaling and trafficking of Val/Met heterozygosity is possibly a practical strategy in reducing the cognitive impairments following the stroke. The cysteine-altering p.R544C variant in the NOTCH3 gene is a probable candidate for blood pressure and relevant traits in the Taiwan Biobank
ConclusionNOTCH3 is a strong candidate for a role in stroke, dementia, and CADASIL, which has previously been linked to blood pressure changes. While our preliminary study suggests thatNOTCH3 p.R544C may influence blood pressure, stroke, and dementia in the Taiwan Biobank, replication in a well-powered external sample is required. This study also underlines considerable prospects of detecting novel genetic biomarkers in underrepresented worldwide populations.

Lifetime Risks, Projected Numbers and Adverse Outcomes in Asian Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: A Report from the Taiwan Nationwide AF Cohort Study.
