Chaperonin counteracts diet-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by aiding sirtuin 3 in the control of fatty acid oxidation
Conclusion/interpretationMitochondrial HSP60 promotes fatty acid oxidation while repressing mitochondrial stress and inflammation to ameliorate the development of NAFLD by preserving SIRT3 signalling. This study reveals the hepatoprotective effects of HSP60 and indicates that HSP60 could play a fundamental role in the development of therapeutics for NAFLD or type 2 diabetes.Graphical abstract

20-Hydroxyecdysone inhibits inflammation via SIRT6-mediated NF- κB signaling in endothelial cells
In conclusion, the present study demonstrates that 20E exerts its effect through SIRT6-mediated deacetylation of NF-κB p65 (K310) to inhibit CD40 expression in ECs, and 20E may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.PMID:36958525 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbamcr.2023.119460

TYRO3 protects podocyte via JNK/c-jun-P53 pathway
Arch Biochem Biophys. 2023 Mar 21;739:109578. doi: 10.1016/j.abb.2023.109578. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPodocyte injury plays a critical role in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Our previous work demonstrated a protective role of tyrosine-protein kinase receptor TYRO3 in glomerular disease; However, the downstream signaling of TYRO3 remains unclear. Our data showed that genetic ablation of tyro3 in zebrafish recapitulated a nephrotic syndrome phenotype. TYRO3 expression was suppressed by high glucose and TGF-β, which may contribute to the decreased TYRO3 expression in progressive DKD. Moreover, knockdown of TYRO3 expres...

mir-98-5p regulates gluconeogenesis and lipogenesis by targeting PPP1R15B in hepatocytes
J Cell Commun Signal. 2023 Mar 14. doi: 10.1007/s12079-023-00735-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeveral reports suggest that circulatory miRNAs are deregulated in diverse diseases and used as markers for disease diagnosis and prognosis. Here we show that miR-98-5p, that is down-regulated in the circulation during diabetes, regulates hepatic gluconeogenesis and lipogenesis by targeting PPP1R15B. miR-98-5p overexpression significantly decreased the transcript and protein levels of PPP1R15B in hepatic HepG2 cells and increased p-eIF2α expression and these were prevented in the presence of its inhibitor. Two major hepatic h...
