Long non-coding RNA MIAT impairs neurological function in ischemic stroke via up-regulating microRNA-874-3p-targeted IL1B
CONCLUSION: Shortly, this study figures out that MIAT impairs neurological function in IS via up-regulating miR-874-3p-targeted IL1B.PMID:34265390 | DOI:10.1016/j.brainresbull.2021.07.005

Radiation-induced lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 increases lysophosphatidylcholine and induces endothelial cell damage
In this study, radiation-induced LPC accumulation in human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and senescence-associated-beta-galactosidase staining, in addition to decreasing their tube-forming ability. Knockdown of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) with small interfering RNA (siRNA) inhibited the increased LPC production induced by radiation, and reduced the radiation-induced cell damage produced by ROS and oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL). Lp-PLA2 depletion abolished the induction of proinflammatory factors, such as interleukin 1β, tumor necrosis fac...

Inhibition of lncRNA < em > SNHG8 < /em > plays a protective role in  hypoxia-ischemia-reoxygenation-induced myocardial injury by regulating miR-335 and RASA1 expression
Mol Med Rep. 2021 Aug;24(2):597. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2021.12236. Epub 2021 Jun 24.ABSTRACTLong non‑coding (lnc)RNAs serve a role in a number of diseases, including different types of cancer and acute myocardial infarction. The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective role of lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 8 (SNHG8) in hypoxia‑ischemia‑reoxygenation (HI/R)‑induced myocardial injury and its potential mechanism of action. Cell viability, proliferation, creatine kinase myocardial band, cell apoptosis and protein expression levels were determined by Cell Counting Kit‑8 assay, EdU assay, ELISA, flo...

Activation of Autophagic Flux Blunts Cardiac Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury
Conclusions: Induction of autophagy at the time of reperfusion is sufficient to mitigate myocardial reperfusion injury by reducing ROS and cell death. Maintenance of appropriate autophagic flux may emerge as a viable clinical therapy to reduce reperfusion injury in acute myocardial infarction.PMID:34111934 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.120.318601

Age-related defects in autophagy alter the secretion of paracrine factors from bone marrow mononuclear cells
Aging (Albany NY). 2021 Jun 4;13. doi: 10.18632/aging.203127. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBone marrow mononuclear cell therapy improves cardiac repair after myocardial infarction (MI), in-part through signaling to resident cardiac cells, such as fibroblasts, which regulate scar formation. The efficacy of cell therapy declines with age, as aging of both donor and recipient cells decreases repair responses. Autophagy regulates the microenvironment by both extracellular vesicle (EV)-dependent and independent secretion pathways. We hypothesized that age-related autophagy changes in bone marrow cells (BMCs) alter paracrine si...

CircRNA 010567 plays a significant role in myocardial infarction via the regulation of the miRNA-141/DAPK1 axis
CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated that circRNA 010567-siRNA played a protective role in hypoxia-induced cardiomyocyte damage via regulating the miR-141/DAPK1 axis, indicating that circRNA 010567-siRNA may be a promising target for MI therapy.PMID:34012592 | PMC:PMC8107568 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-21-212
