Ginkgolide C promotes apoptosis and abrogates metastasis of colorectal carcinoma cells by targeting Wnt/ β‐catenin signaling pathway
This study aimed to investigate whether GGC can exhibit anti-neoplastic effects against colon cancer cells and explore underlying mechanism. The Wnt/ β-catenin signaling can regulate cell proliferation, survival, metastasis, and migration. Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway plays important role in colorectal cancer (CRC) and acts as a potential therapeutic target. Abnormal activation of this signaling cascades has been reported in colon CRC. We fo und that GGC down-regulated Wnt/β-catenin signaling cascade. GGC inhibited the expression of Wnt3a, β-catenin, and β-catenin down-stream signals (Axin-1, p-GSK3β, and β-TrCP)...

Doublecortin-Like Kinase 1 (DCLK1) Is a Novel NOTCH Pathway Signaling Regulator in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma
In this study, we performed a comprehensive transcriptome-based computational analysis on hundreds of HNSCC patients from TCGA and GEO databases, and found that DCLK1 expression positively correlates with NOTCH signaling pathway activation. Since NOTCH signaling has a recognized role in HNSCC tumorigenesis, we next performed a series of in vitro experiments in a collection of HNSCC cell lines to investigate the role of DCLK1 in NOTCH pathway regulation. Our analyses revealed that DCLK1 inhibition, using either a pharmacological inhibitor or siRNA, resulted in substantially decreased proliferation, invasion, migration, and ...

LncRNA CCAT1 sponges miR-218-5p to promote EMT, cellular migration and invasion of retinoblastoma by targeting MTF2
In conclusion, here we identified the lncRNA CCAT1/miR-218-5p/MTF2 axis in RB cell lines. Our investigations on the function of lncRNA CCAT1 hint a novel biomarker and therapeutic option to facilitate RB diagnosis and treatment.PMID:34265414 | DOI:10.1016/j.cellsig.2021.110088

Effects of the lncRNA ENST00000623984 on colon cancer and the biological characteristics of colon cancer cells
In this study, the expression levels of ENST000000623984 were first examined in tumor tissue and adjacent normal tissue from 40 patients with colorectal cancer and LoVo cells using quantitative real-time PCR. By siRNA transfection, ENST00000623984 expression was knocked down. Using flow cytometry, cell cycle progression and cell viability were examined in basal and knockdown LoVo cells. The CCK-8 assay was used to assess the cell proliferation rate, and the Transwell assay was used to determine the migration and invasion abilities. The ENST000000623984 expression level was increased in colorectal cancer. Knockdown of ENST0...

IGF-1R depletion sensitizes colon cancer cell lines to radiotherapy
CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrate that depletion of IGF-1R lead to an increase in radiosensitivity in CRC.PMID:34092618 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-210016
