Involvement of RUVBL1 in WNT/ < em > β < /em > -Catenin Signaling in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Dis Markers. 2022 Apr 22;2022:3398492. doi: 10.1155/2022/3398492. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTOral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignant tumor of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), but the causes and molecular mechanisms remain unclear. The wingless-integrated/β-catenin (WNT/β-catenin) signaling pathway plays a vital role in cancer cell proliferation, differentiation, and metastasis, including OSCC. To screen potential β-catenin-associated genes involved in OSCC, the intersection of these genes in the STRING and IMEx databases was assessed using differential expression genes (DEG) from pub...

Rab22a promotes the proliferation, migration, and invasion of lung adenocarcinoma via up-regulating PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway
Exp Cell Res. 2022 Apr 26:113179. doi: 10.1016/j.yexcr.2022.113179. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRab22a, a member of the proto-oncogene RAS family, belongs to the Rab5 subfamily. It participates in early endosome formation and regulates vesicle trafficking. The relationship between Rab22a and tumorigenesis remains elusive. In non-small cell lung cancer specimens, immunohistochemical staining showed consistently high expression of Rab22a in lung adenocarcinoma, but not in squamous cell carcinoma. In lung adenocarcinoma cell lines, A549 and H1299, transfection with Rab22a significantly promoted cell proliferation, migration...

Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 2151: Role of Amino Acid Transporter SNAT1/SLC38A1 in Human Melanoma
In this study, we revealed a significant upregulation of SNAT1 expression in human melanoma tissue in comparison to healthy epidermis and an increased SNAT1 expression level in human melanoma cell lines when compared to normal human melanocytes (NHEMs). We demonstrated that functional inhibition of SNAT1 with α-(methylamino) isobutyric acid (MeAIB), as well as siRNA-mediated downregulation reduces cancer cell growth, cellular migration, invasion, and leads to induction of senescence in melanoma cells. Consequently, these results demonstrate that the amino acid transporter SNAT1 is essential for cancer growth,...

Low doses of niclosamide and quinacrine combination yields synergistic effect in melanoma via activating autophagy-mediated p53-dependent apoptosis
In this study, we developed a novel anti-melanoma strategy by using anti-tapeworm drug niclosamide and anti-malarial drug quinacrine, and investigated the molecular mechanism by in vitro and in vivo assays. Meanwhile, other types of tumor cells, immortalized epithelial cells and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were used to evaluate the universal role of anti-cancer and safety of the strategy. The results showed, briefly, an exposure to niclosamide and quinacrine led to an increased apoptosis-related protein p53, cleaved caspase-3 and cleaved PARP and autophagy-related protein LC3B expression, and a decreased expression ...

IL1 Pathway in HPV-Negative HNSCC Cells Is an Indicator of Radioresistance After Photon and Carbon Ion Irradiation Without Functional Involvement
ConclusionsIL1A and IL1B are excellent indicators of cellular radioresistance and senescence in HNSCC cells without functional involvement in these processes. Clearly more research is needed to understand the molecular mechanisms of senescence and SASP and its impact on radioresistance.

Corrigendum Linc00961 inhibits the proliferation and invasion of skin melanoma by targeting the miR ‑367/PTEN axis
Int J Oncol. 2022 Jun;60(6):62. doi: 10.3892/ijo.2022.5352. Epub 2022 Apr 13.ABSTRACTFollowing the publication of the above article, the authors have informed us that they found errors in two of the published figures that occurred whilst compiling them. In Fig. 8, the representative images selected for the migratory and invasive A375 cells in the Lv‑control + miR‑367 NC group experiments were found to be overlapping. After having consulted their original data, the authors noted that the error arose during the data acquisition process, and an area of the image captured for the migratory A375 cells was inadvertently reâ€...

Identification and function of circular RNA hsa_circ_0071106: A novel biomarker for differentiation degree of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Hsa_circ_0071106 was a downregulated circRNA related to ESCC and promoted ESCC progression by regulating cell migration and invasion. These findings suggest that hsa_circ_0071106 could be a promising diagnostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target and might predict ESCC's histological differentiation degree.PMID:35390631 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2022.153875

Farnesoid X receptor functions in cervical cancer via the p14 < sup > ARF < /sup > -mouse double minute 2-p53 pathway
CONCLUSIONS: FXR inhibits cervical cancer by upregulating the p14ARF-MDM2-p53 pathway. Activation of FXR may be a potential strategy for the treatment of cervical cancer.PMID:35347542 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-022-07201-x
