An Investigation of Pain Beliefs, Pain Coping, and Spiritual Well-Being in Surgical Patients
This study investigated pain beliefs, pain coping, and spiritual well-being in surgical patients. The study adopted a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational research design. The sample consisted of 213 voluntary patients admitted to a surgery clinic between April and November 2019. Data were collected using a demographic characteristics questionnaire, the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual Well-Being Scale-12 item (FACIT-Sp-12), the Pain Beliefs Questionnaire (PBQ), and the Pain Coping Questionnaire (PCQ). Number, percentage, mean, and Spearman ’s correlation were used for analysis. Parti...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 12021: Effectiveness of Nitrate Intake on Recovery from Exercise-Related Fatigue: A Systematic Review
Conclusions: Despite the relative proven effectiveness of NO3− on recovery after aerobic and anaerobic efforts, based on the heterogeneity of the procedures (e.g., dosage, chronic vs. acute intake, participants’ characteristics, variables and outcomes), it could be premature to suggest its extended use in sports.

Burning mouth syndrome to oral cenesthopathy: A spectrum of neuropsychiatric and sensory complications in neurodegenerative parkinsonism?
Sensory disturbances are well known nonmotor manifestations in Parkinson disease (PD), with growing data on orofacial pain. Oral pain may include burning mouth syndrome (BMS), likely an under-reported phenomenon [1], described as a burning sensation of the oral cavity without any detectable clinical changes in the mucosa or organic cause [2]. Cenesthetic hallucinations, on the other hand, are strange sensations characterized by distortions of body awareness such as abdominal organs being extruded from a patient's limbs reported in a patient with PD [3].

Is mastocytic colitis a specific clinical-pathological entity?
The number of intestinal mast cells (MC) is increased in several types of colitis, but the mucosa of patients with chronic non-bloody diarrhea has not been studied. The current study sought to determine the relationship between MC counts and degranulation and the severity of symptoms in patients with chronic loose stools. Following a negative laboratory workup for the most common causes of chronic diarrhea, patients with chronic non-bloody loose stools were included in the study. Patients with macroscopic evidence of inflammation or organic disease were excluded after endoscopy with biopsies. Biopsies from the 179 patients...

Cognitive, emotional, physical, and behavioral stress-related symptoms and coping strategies among university students during the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic
ConclusionStress and its related physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral symptoms are prevalent among university students. Most of the university students who were recruited reported that the COVID-19 pandemic badly affected their lives and used negative ways to deal with stress, like staying alone and sleeping too much. Positive ways to deal with stress, like seeing a therapist or meditating, were less common.

Micro ‐Nanocarriers Based Drug Delivery Technology for Blood‐Brain Barrier Crossing and Brain Tumor Targeting Therapy
This paper takes the therapeutic pain points of brain tumors as the entry point, i.e., the obstruction of the blood-brain barrier and the brain targeting of drugs, and then elaborates on the effect mechanisms and therapeutic efficacy of current inorganic, organic, and biobased drug carriers. These micro-nanocarriers-based drug delivery systems will have great potential in brain tumor therapy. AbstractThe greatest obstacle to using drugs to treat brain tumors is the blood-brain barrier (BBB), making it difficult for conventional drug molecules to enter the brain. Therefore, how to safely and effectively penetrate the BBB to...

Burden of Pediatric Functional Gastrointestinal Disorder in an Emergency Department—A Single-Center Experience
Conclusions Functional gastrointestinal disorders place considerable burden on the A&E, in terms of resource usage, time of clinicians, and financial strain. More education should be provided to families of those experiencing FGID in an outpatient setting to minimize A&E resource utilization. More research is needed to ascertain the true burden of FGIDs, both financially and in terms of time and resource.

Longitudinal changes of mental health problems in children and adolescents treated in a primary care-based health-coaching programme - results of the PrimA-QuO cohort study
CONCLUSION: This evaluation of the HC programme could not prove a clinically relevant intervention's effect on the MHP developmental course. Nevertheless, (HC) paediatricians have crucial potential to improve the care of MHP patients. Targeting families with less access to support measures might help reduce the burden of MHP and be a step towards continuous improvement of care.PMID:35996092 | PMC:PMC9396915 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-022-01780-1

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 5206: Synthesis and Investigation of the Analgesic Potential of Enantiomerically Pure Schiff Bases: A Mechanistic Approach
an Ullah Mughal Schiff bases are a class of organic compounds with azomethine moiety, exhibiting a wide range of biological potentials. In this research, six chiral Schiff bases, three ‘S’ series (H1–H3) and three ‘R’ series (H4–H6), were synthesized. The reaction was neat, which means without a solvent, and occurred at room temperature with a high product yield. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for analgesic potential in vivo at doses of 12.5 and 25 mg/kg using acetic-acid-induced writhing assay, formalin test, tail immersion a...

A Comparison Between Rome III and Rome IV Criteria in Children with Chronic Abdominal Pain: A Prospective Observational Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: In children with chronic abdominal pain, Rome IV criteria did not cause a change in the number of patients diagnosed with functional abdominal pain disorders according to Rome III, but it caused a diagnostic shift. It was seen that some of the children diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome in Rome III shifted to functional dyspepsia diagnosis in Rome IV.PMID:35946891 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2022.21893
