Risk Stratification in a Tertiary Care Spine Centre: Comparison Between STarTBack and OSPRO-YF Screening Tools
CONCLUSIONS: STarTBack and OSPRO-YF are short screening tools with acceptable convergent and known-group construct validity and no floor or ceiling effect of their total score. Both tools could assist with the identification, evaluation, and management of psychological distress in patients presenting to tertiary care spine centres.PMID:37736380 | PMC:PMC10510560 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0026

“PictureWhat” ??? Super-Human Poison Ivy. What’s Going On?
By MIKE MAGEE Connecticut loves its’ trees. And no town in Connecticut loves its’ trees more than West Hartford, CT. The town borders include an elaborate interconnected reservoir system that does double duty as a focal point for a wide range of nature paths for walkers, runners and cyclists. While walking one path yesterday, I came a tree with the healthiest upward advancing vine I had ever seen. My “PictureThis” app took no time to identify the plant. To my surprise, it was Toxicodendron radicans, known commonly as Poison Ivy. The description didn’t pull punches. It read, “In pop culture, poison ivy ...

Evaluating hs-cTnI serum levels and cTnI gene expression compared with cardiac nuclear scan in patients with angina pectoris
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Jul 31;69(7):98-103. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.7.16.ABSTRACTExercise stress can cause reversible myocardial ischemia in people with coronary artery disease (CAD). On the other hand, the new troponin biomarker with high sensitivity can detect faster and small amounts of troponin in blood circulation. The present study aimed to investigate the serum troponin level following exercise stress and the result of nuclear heart scans as the gold standard. For this purpose, 93 patients with stable angina and no history of known CAD and organic disease were included in this cross-sectional study. ...

Proniosomes Nanoparticle for the Treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease
CONCLUSION: Proniosomes may be created using various techniques, which may impact how they develop along with the drug's characteristics. They increase the drug's stability while being delivered while being entrapped. They don't need particular conditions for handling, protection, storage, or industrial manufacturing.PMID:37702235 | DOI:10.2174/2211738511666230912160729

Major depression associated with a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system mimicking frontotemporal dementia: a case report
We present a case of a 42-year-old woman diagnosed with seronegative spondyloarthropathy who subsequently developed anxiety and depressive symptoms after the implantation of a Levonorgestrel-Releasing Intrauterine System (LNG-IUS). Three years later, she began to experience memory and attentional failures, refractory pain, and severe depression. The progression of psychiatric symptoms led to a diagnosis of bipolar affective disorder and treatment with antidepressants and anxiolytics. Due to cognitive and psychiatric symptoms, autoimmune encephalitis was considered, but no improvement was shown with treatment. Early onset d...

Impact of a pediatric primary care health-coaching program on change in health-related quality of life in children with mental health problems: results of the PrimA-QuO cohort study
BMC Prim Care. 2023 Sep 8;24(1):182. doi: 10.1186/s12875-023-02119-0.ABSTRACTMental health problems (MHP) have a considerable negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and their families. A low threshold Health Coaching (HC) program has been introduced to bring MH services to primary care and strengthen the role of pediatricians. It comprised training concepts as a hands-on approach for pediatricians, standardization of diagnosis and treatment, and extended consultations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential effects of the HC on HRQoL in children with MHP and their parents. We used...
