Dimethyl fumarate attenuates MSU-induced gouty arthritis by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation and oxidative stress
CONCLUSIONS: DMF serves as a new approach for the treatment of MSU-induced gouty arthritis by suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome activation and oxidative stress.PMID:36734707 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202301_31064

Serum paraoxonase activities, nitric oxide, and malondialdehyde levels are altered in patients with primary fibromyalgia syndrome
ConclusionThese results suggest that FMS patients have an alteration in levels of MDA, NO, and PON-1 activities. We think that impaired oxidant/antioxidant status may affect the symptoms of the disease. Also, they may be of importance in the complex physiopathologic mechanism behind the development of FMS.

PROPERTY: study protocol for a randomized, double-blind, multicenter placebo-controlled trial assessing neurotoxicity in patients with metastatic gastrointestinal cancer taking PHYCOCARE ® during oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy
DiscussionDue to the neuropathy, patients need to avoid injury by paying careful attention to home safety; patients ’ physicians often prescribe over-the-counter pain medications. If validated, our hypothesis should help to limit neurotoxicity without the need to discontinue chemotherapy.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov NCT05025826. First published on August 27, 2021.

Meteorin-like protein decreases in acute coronary syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: It was found that the level of METRNL decreased in AMI patients and a negative correlation was present between the level of METRNL with the time from the onset of chest pain until emergency department admission and the level of troponin. In addition, it was determined that the level of TOS and OSI were significantly increased and the level of TAS decreased considerably compared to the healthy control.PMID:36647870 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202301_30873

Anticancer properties of bromelain: State-of-the-art and recent trends
Bromelain is a key enzyme found in pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.); a proteolytic substance with multiple beneficial effects for human health such as anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antioxidant and anticarcinogenic, traditionally used in many countries for its potential therapeutic value. The aim of this updated and comprehensive review focuses on the potential anticancer benefits of bromelain, analyzing the cytotoxic, apoptotic, necrotic, autophagic, immunomodulating, and anti-inflammatory effects in cancer cells and animal models. Detailed information about Bromelain and its anticancer effects at the cellular,...
