In conclusion, peroxynitrite-mediated HMGB1/TLR2 signaling contributes to hemorrhagic transformation, and glycyrrhizin could be a potential adjuvant therapy to attenuate hemorrhagic transformation, possibly through inhibiting the ONOO−/HMGB1/TLR2 signaling cascades.

Hyperuricaemia as a prognostic factor for acute ischaemic stroke
ConclusionsSerum uric acid levels in patients with acute ischaemic stroke are significantly associated with functional prognosis at discharge, although this relationship is nonlinear. In fact, poorer prognosis is associated both with very low and with very high concentrations of uric acid. Melatonin Regulates Neuroinflammation Ischemic Stroke Damage through Interactions with Microglia in Reperfusion phase.
In this study, we initially aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of melatonin intra-arterially and to clarify the underlying mechanisms. After that by using an in vitro approach, we evaluated the protective effects of melatonin on microglial cells following the hypoxia condition. Our results proved that a single dose of melatonin at the beginning of reperfusion phase improved structural and behavioral outcomes. Calcitriol protects the Blood-Brain Barrier integrity against ischemic stroke and reduces vasogenic brain edema via antioxidant and antiapoptotic actions in rats.
