Do Google Trends Correlate with the Number of Facial Plastic Surgery Procedures Performed in the United States?
Conclusion This study showed that RSV for common cosmetic plastic surgery procedures did not significantly correlate with the number of procedures performed annually in the United States. More research is needed to further understand the use of Google Trends in gauging patient interest in a procedure and understanding what patients seek to learn about a procedure. Research Hotspots and Emerging Trends of Facial Rejuvenation: A Bibliometric Analysis
ConclusionsAt present, the research hotspots in this field included the following six aspects: facial photoelectric therapy, aging manifestation and treatment in the middle of the face, the application of autologous fat transfer in facial rejuvenation, facial plastic surgery, facial injection cosmetology, and rhytidectomy and related anatomy. According to the analysis of the timing diagram, the research trends were esthetic medicine, mesenchymal stem cells, laser therapy, the application of platelet-rich plasma, and platelet-rich fibrin. This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Zygomatic Implants through a Face-Lift Approach: Analysis of 30 Years’ Experience
Conclusions: The application of cheek implants proved to be a great tool for midfacial volume rejuvenation with or without associated fat grafting. This conclusion was drawn from the answers reported in the questionnaires completed by the two examiners. The main challenge in this operation was the choice of the type, shape, and size of the implant. The preauricular approach should be given preference during this procedure because, compared to the other approaches, it is easier, faster, and more comfortable for both the patient and the surgeon. Face and Neck Lift Options in Patients of Ethnic Descent
Despite the propensity for humans to classify themselves into separate ethnoraces, the stigma of aging eventually appears in all. The mobile superficial musculo-aponeurotic system is a key area of change across all ethnicities and can be rejuvenated most effectively when the cutaneous retaining ligaments of the face and neck are fully released. The extended facelift techniques are logically the most effective in achieving this. Despite facelift surgery, the neck is often neglected but can be managed in a variety of ways. Changes within the deep neck structures are most effectively addressed under direct vision through a mi...

The Deep Fascia of the Infraorbital Region, Deep Plane, and Suprafibromuscular Facelift: New Anatomy for Safer Facelifting
We describe anatomical findings that establish the presence of a true deep fascia in the midface, we named as Chiara's fascia, like the first author's first name, which helps to form the facial ligaments and is contiguous with the superficial layer of the deep temporal fascia. This fascia inserts on the periosteum of the inferior orbital rim at the arcus marginalis and separates the suborbicularis oculi fat (SOOF) from the preperiosteal fat. This distinct fascial layer lies under the superficial fascia or superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) and represents the floor of what is commonly termed the “deep plane.” ...

The Extended Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System Deep Plane Facelift
Facial Plast Surg DOI: 10.1055/a-1849-5356Over the past four decades, the senior author has evolved and perfected his preferred method for face and neck lifting, the extended superficial musculoaponeurotic system deep plane rhytidectomy, and submentoplasty. With this procedure, the superficial musculoaponeurotic system layer is addressed both in the face and neck, repositioning the tissues in a superior and posterior vector and creating a sling in the cervicomental area. Outcomes have proven to be both successful and long lasting. In this article, a detailed update and discussion of the specific techniques utilized are pro...

Extent of Utilization of Radiologic Images in Gross Anatomy Teaching, the Experience of Ethiopian Medical Schools
CONCLUSION: The curriculum currently in use in Ethiopian medical schools is designed in a way both vertical and horizontal integration of the traditional subjects are achieved. This way, the introduction of clinical medicine early will provide context and relevance to the learning of basic science. Despite the curriculum's emphasis, we have observed limitations in the degree of integration of anatomy and radiology.PMID:36046601 | PMC:PMC9421611 | DOI:10.2147/AMEP.S374089 (Source: Adv Data)

The Hybrid Facelift
Summary: In facelift surgery, many surgeons tend to choose one superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) technique over another. SMAS plication augments tissue using folding, which is very useful in deflated faces. In heavy faces, SMAS-ectomy and, to an arguably further extent, full SMAS undermining and excision can reduce volume and avoid the excessive fullness that may follow plication. Not all patients present with uniform deflation or uniform fullness of the face. Some will present with a mixed picture, fullness in one area such as the cheek with deflation in another (eg, over the angle of the mandible). In thos...

33213 Nonsurgical facelift: Clinical and histologic evaluation of fractional radiofrequency treatment on fine lines and skin laxity
We report our nonsurgical face-lift experience using 5 pairs of electrically isolated 32-gauge microneedles. The device uses insulated needles which are inserted at a 25 ° angle to the skin surface. This allows selective thermal impact to the dermis while sparing the epidermis. (Source: Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology)

Minimally Invasive Techniques for Facial Rejuvenation Utilizing Polydioxanone Threads
Facial Plast Surg Clin North Am. 2022 Aug;30(3):375-387. doi: 10.1016/j.fsc.2022.03.011.ABSTRACTCosmetic procedures to combat the effects of aging are increasing in demand. Surgical interventions, such as rhytidectomy, have long been the standard method of providing a more youthful appearance. However, these procedures are costly, often require general anesthesia, and have potential risks such as scarring and prolonged recovery. A safe, effective, alternative to surgery is the nonsurgical thread-lift. Nevertheless, proper patient selection is critical for optimal outcomes and for patient and provider satisfaction. Over the...

Comparison of various surgical incisions in parotidectomy: A systematic review and network meta-analysis
Conclusion: The traditional MBI is frequently used for large tumor volumes, but the incision satisfaction score is low and postoperative complication control is poor. However, emerging incisions performed well in terms of incision satisfaction scores and control of complications. More randomized controlled trials are needed to compare the different parotidectomy incisions. Patients should be fully informed about the characteristics of each incision to make the most informed decision, along with the physician's advice. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)
