Clinical Effects of the Combination of Rhytidectomy and Temporomandibular Joint Disc Repositioning Surgery
This study aims to investigate the clinical effects of the combination of rhytidectomy and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc repositioning surgery in internal derangement (ID) stage IV-V and facial aging patients. Methods: Eighteen facial aging with bilateral ID IV-V patients were enrolled in this study. All of them had undergone temporomandibular disc repositioning surgery and rhytidectomy by the same surgeon (Yao Min Zhu). Pre-/post-surgical clinical manifestations, facial photography, radiographic data were recorded and analyzed, as well as doctor, patient, third-party evaluation of postsurgical facial appearanc...

Face Lift Practice Patterns: An American Society of Plastic Surgeons Member Survey, 2000 and 2020. How Much Have We Changed?
Conclusions: The basic approach of American Society of Plastic Surgeons members to the face lift operation has not changed dramatically over the past 20 years. The development of operative adjuncts, however, has been positive, including fat grafting techniques, concomitant use of skin resurfacing, and means of minimizing blood loss with tranexamic acid. In certain instances, respondents do not follow evidence-based guidelines for perioperative care. Finally, common complications of practicing members appear to coincide with published retrospective reviews. (Source: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery)

A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Early Relapse After Facelift
ConclusionsFuture research on preventive measures will be successful upon acknowledgment of the actual prevalence of this problem. Consensus on its definition and objective criteria for its diagnosis are required for further progress.Level of Evidence IIIThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Modified Preauricular Cervico-facial Approach for Oral Cancers: an Analysis of Oncological and Functional Outcomes
AbstractThe quest for a more cosmetic and functionally better approach to oral cancer continues unabated. The modified facelift and preauricular approaches have been a common approach in trauma and cosmetic surgery. In the current study, we evaluate the feasibility and functional outcomes of a preauricular cervico-facial approach for compartmental resection of complex gingiva-buccal complex tumours with concurrent neck dissection. This was a prospective single-centre study and recruited patients of biopsy-proven operable advanced oral cavity tumours. These patients underwent compartmental tumour resections with neck dissec...

Deep Plane Anatomy for the Facelift Surgeon: A Comprehensive Three-Dimensional Journey
This article highlights and summarizes the high-yield anatomic pearls in facelift surgery, particularly in sub-SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) dissection techniques. Emphasis is placed on the depth and transitions of the facial nerve branches and the sub-SMAS potential spaces and their role in deep plane facelift dissection. Key anatomic structures in the deep neck are described.PMID:35501058 | DOI:10.1016/j.fsc.2022.01.015 (Source: The Surgical Clinics of North America)
