Explore the rise in facelift options and embrace the trending popularity
The facelift procedure was first described in 1901 by Eugene Hollander and in 1916 by Erich Lexer. The Different Levels of Mindfulness And What They Mean
Conclusion The first 3 techniques I mentioned have been with me since my early days with mindfulness. I picked up the rest along the way when I realized that to be completely aware, you have to make personal effort outside of meditation sessions. It's the only way you make progress. If you're going to experience deeper levels of mindfulness, it's up to you to create a plan of how you are going to ground yourself in it and have the commitment and discipline to do it. Starting small is the way to go. You can begin with 2 to 3 minutes of mindfulness meditation and slowly increase the time as you get comfortable. ...

Digital Health In Plastic Surgery And Cosmetics
On February 9, 2037 at 6:48 a.m. your smart sleep alarm nudges you to wake up. Picking up your phone and activating the front camera, you take your daily selfie. This one is not for social media but rather it’s to have a smart algorithm analyse the picture. It will subsequently determine whether your personalised ointment is effective against those pesky acnes.  After getting a report in seconds, you make your way to the bathroom to freshen up before making breakfast. As you sip your coffee, you get a reminder from your telehealth app that your dental surgery is coming up later this week. It also sends a notifica...

Many people in the healthcare IT and HIM communities have been anticipating some changes to HIPAA coming soon.  As Rita Bowen from MRO recently shared, “the rule is 20+ years old and the practice of medicine has changed, the maintenance of the health information, etc.. so yes, it is time for a face lift.”  As […] (Source: EMR and HIPAA)

Stem Cell Therapy Reverses Aspects of Photoaging in Skin
With few exceptions, the worldwide community of clinics offering first generation stem cell therapies is not usually a source of reliable data. They don't tend to conduct trials or even much report on the results of their work. Further, the stem cell therapies used can vary enormously in effectiveness. Cells are fickle things and tiny differences in how two groups run exactly the same protocol for sourcing and preparing cells can cause widely divergent outcomes, both between clinics, and from patient to patient for the same clinic. Not that groups are in fact usually running the same protocol; a very broad range of possibi...

Patient demand doesn ’t justify medical excess
We live in an era where plastic surgery is routine.    Indeed, in many parts of the country, plastic surgery is an expected rite of passage.   Years ago, facelifts and“tummy tucks” were done on those in middle age who were trying to experience a surgical time machine.   Now, folks in their 20s are having all […]Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more. The problem with reducing physician salaries
Health care is big business, with medical practices vying for contracts, hospitals undergoing facelifts in order to cater to patient experiences, and insurance companies making deals with pharmacies.  Some of these arrangements are negotiated in the name of reducing health care spending, but there has to be some skepticism when for-profit entities are implicated.  Physician […]Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more. Does Health Insurance Pay For Essure Removal?
We are frequently asked does health insurance pay for Essure removal? Essure was first approved in 2001. At first not many women opted to have the Essure procedure. As doctors became more comfortable offering Essure and as the public became aware Essure was tubal ligation alternative, more women chose to use Essure for permanent birth control (sterilization). Sterilization is intended to be permanent. Research has shown that a significant number of women will regret their sterilization and desire to have another baby. Some of these women will consider in-vitro fertilization and some will consider surgical reversal of steri...

In conclusion, reduction of LDL-C to less than 50 mg/dl seems safe and provides greater CV benefits compared with higher levels. Data for achieved LDL-C lower than 20-25 mg/dl is limited, although findings from the above mentioned studies are encouraging. However, further evaluation is needed for future studies and post-hoc analyses. Wary of the Beautiful Fairy Tale of Near Term Rejuvenation
One might compare this interview with researcher Leonid Peshkin to last year's discussion with Vadim Gladyshev. There is a spectrum of caution and pessimism regarding near term progress towards rejuvenation; the pessimists in the research and development communities are not all alike in their viewpoints, and nor do they all have the same take on the complexity of cellular metabolism as a hurdle to progress. If a researcher thinks that small molecule drugs or gene therapies to alter the operation of metabolism into a state in which aging is slowed are the only way forward, then yes, it is reasonable to consider that ...
