Non-Pharmacological Interventions for Treating Psoriatic Arthritis
CONCLUSIONS: The polyhedral clinical expression of PsA underlines the need for a multidisciplinary approach combining the synergistic effects of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. The latter range from preventive measures, like dietary modifications, weight loss, and cigarette smoking cessation, to personalized training protocols according to disease activity and phenotype, comorbidities, and individual tolerability. In these patients, we strongly encourage the regular practice of motor activity at progressively increasing intensity with combined supervised aerobic, strength, endurance, and stretching exer...

Adalimumab in the management of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis: Results from a Delphi investigation
CONCLUSION: Results from this Delphi study clearly show an overall consensus on the use of adalimumab in the management of PsO and PsA, particularly as first-choice for specific subpopulations (uveitis, IBD, hidradenitis suppurativa). Considering the cost-effectiveness of biosimilars within Italy, adalimumab may represent an effective and safe first-line treatment for patients with moderate-to-severe PsO or PsA, and a valid choice for switching after failure.PMID:38571927 | PMC:PMC10985702 | DOI:10.1515/rir-2024-0006 (Source: Cell Research)

A Novel Human Interleukin ‐23A Overexpressing Mouse Model of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
ConclusionWe have generated and characterized a novel genetic mouse model of SLE, providing proof-of-concept for the etiopathogenic role of human IL-23A. This new model has a normal life span and integrates several characteristics of the human disease's complexity and chronicity, making it an attractive preclinical tool for studying IL-23 –dependent pathogenic mechanisms and assessing the efficacy of anti–human IL-23A or modeled disease-related therapeutics. Prevention of Psoriatic Arthritis
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a systemic chronic inflammatory disease that develops in up to 30% of patients with psoriasis. Mixed data variably support the potential ability to “prevent” and/or delay PsA through use of systemic therapies in psoriasis patients. Though intriguing, almost all of these studies are retrospective in nature, and hold substantial limitations and potential biases that challenge the ability to meaningfully interpretation their results. Thus, the authors believe prospective observational and interventional studies are crucial to understanding our ability to truly modify the transition from psoria...

Is the patient-perceived impact of psoriatic arthritis a global concept? An international study in 13 Arab countries (TACTIC study)
AbstractThe Psoriatic Arthritis Impact of Disease (PsAID-12) questionnaire, a recommended measure of patient-reported impact for psoriatic arthritis (PsA), was initially developed in Europe and may lack universal validity. Recognizing the need for a culturally appropriate tool for Arab patients, this study aimed to TranslAte, CulTurally adapt, and validate the PsAID in ArabIC (TACTIC). The PsAID-12 was translated into Arabic using a rigorous process of double translation, back-translation, and cognitive debriefing. The Arabic version was then validated through a study conducted in 13 Arab countries in 2022. Participants we...

PanAmerican League of Associations for Rheumatology Recommendations for the Treatment of Psoriatic Arthritis
CONCLUSION: Herein, we present a set of recommendations to guide decision-making in treatment of PsA in America, based on the best evidence available, considering resources, medical expertise, and patient's values and preferences. The successful implementation of these recommendations should be based on clinical practice conditions, health care setting on each country, and tailored evaluation of patients.PMID:38561190 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2023-1172 (Source: Journal of Rheumatology)

Patients with psoriatic arthritis-related enthesitis are more likely to persist on tofacitinib under real-life conditions
CONCLUSION: In this real-life study, tofacitinib showed a reasonably good retention rate in a PsA population mostly refractory to biologic and oral targeted-synthetic DMARDs. Patients with refractory PsA and enthesitis might be a specific target population for this drug. No new alarm signals emerged.PMID:38561189 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2024-0016 (Source: Journal of Rheumatology)
