Associations between chronotype, diet quality and timing of energy intake in Portuguese children and adolescents: The potential role of summer holidays
Chronobiol Int. 2024 Apr 12:1-11. doi: 10.1080/07420528.2024.2339970. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLater chronotypes may be associated with lower diet quality and later timing of energy intake in paediatric age. Period of data collection of these variables may affect these parameters and inter-relationship. We aimed to assess the cross-sectional association of chronotype with a diet quality score (HEI) and caloric midpoint (time of achieving 50% of total daily energy intake), considering summer holidays, using data from the National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey 2015-2016 for 578 participants (6-14 years of...

Analysis of the Association of IL-1A, IL-1B and IL-1RN Polymorphisms with Peri-implantitis in a Portuguese Population
CONCLUSIONS: The genetic polymorphisms evaluated had no influence on the occurrence of periimplantitis in the population studied. Further research into genetic variations in different populations is needed to elucidate the role of genetic factors in the onset and progression of periimplant disease.PMID:38607354 | DOI:10.11607/jomi.10615 (Source: International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants)

Mutational spectrum and deep phenotyping in Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum: Findings from a Portuguese cohort
CONCLUSIONS: This study describes the genetic spectrum of patients with PXE for the first time in a Portuguese cohort. A total of 16 different variants in ABCC6 were found (7 of which are novel), thus highlighting the genotypic heterogeneity associated with this condition and expanding its mutational spectrum. Still, no major genotype-phenotype associations could be established.PMID:38602027 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247676 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Development and internal validation of a clinical score to predict neonatal hypoglycaemia in women with gestational diabetes
ConclusionPer each score point, women with GD had 35% higher risk of NH. Those with ≥6 points had 6.8-fold higher risk of NH compared to a score ≤1. Our score may be useful for identifying women at a higher risk of NH. (Source: Endocrine)

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 1729: Hazel Leaf Polyphenol Extract Alleviated Cisplatin-Induced Acute Kidney Injury by Reducing Ferroptosis through Inhibiting Hippo Signaling
Zhe Lin Yuchen Wang Derived from hazelnuts, hazel leaf has been utilized in traditional folk medicine for centuries in countries such as Portugal, Sweden, and Iran. In our previous investigations, we conducted a preliminary assessment of the hazel leaf polyphenol extract (referred to as ZP) and identified nine compounds, such as kaempferol and chlorogenic acid, in its composition. ZP has shown promising properties as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Our research has revealed that ZP has protective effects against cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). We conducted a comprehensive examination of both ...

Dupilumab in patients with atopic dermatitis: assessing treatment response, clinical features and potential biomarkers in real-life
Conclusions. In this cohort, none of the evaluated biomarkers at baseline were associated with a better/earlier clinical response to dupilumab. Dupilumab treatment for 52 weeks resulted in a significant and sustained reduction in blood levels of total IgE and allergen-specific IgE to aeroallergens. The potential long-term clinical benefit of these effects, even after discontinuing dupilumab therapy in patients with AD, should be explored to a greater extent.PMID:38591168 | DOI:10.23822/EurAnnACI.1764-1489.341 (Source: European Annals of Allergy and Clinical Immunology)
