Brazilian Version of the Health Care Provider HIV/AIDS Stigma Scale: Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Psychometric Evaluation Among Healthcare Students
AbstractWe aimed to validate the Health Care Provider HIV/AIDS Stigma Scale (HPASS) among healthcare students in Brazil. The validation process occurred in three phases from August 2022 to July 2023: translation and cross-cultural adaptation; content validity assessment involving four experts; and evaluation of psychometric properties among 553 healthcare students from the Federal University of Esp írito Santo. We used exploratory factor analysis and convergent validity for structural validation. The average scale content validity index was 0.90, while the evaluation of validity evidence based on the internal structure in...

Recurrence, Microevolution, and Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Legionella pneumophila Sequence Type 1905, Portugal, 2014-2022
Emerg Infect Dis. 2024 May;30(5):1022-1025. doi: 10.3201/eid3005.231383.ABSTRACTWe investigated molecular evolution and spatiotemporal dynamics of atypical Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 sequence type 1905 and determined its long-term persistence and linkage to human disease in dispersed locations, far beyond the large 2014 outbreak epicenter in Portugal. Our finding highlights the need for public health interventions to prevent further disease spread.PMID:38666647 | DOI:10.3201/eid3005.231383 (Source: Emerging Infectious Diseases)

Neurological Involvement in a Portuguese Cohort of IgG4-Related Disease
CONCLUSION: This study highlights the phenotypical variability of the neurological IgG4-RD. Biopsy inaccessibility reinforces the importance of new criteria for the diagnosis of this subset of patients.PMID:38669036 | DOI:10.20344/amp.20767 (Source: Acta Medica Portuguesa)

Contact tracing management of a measles case in a paediatric hospital: experience of the local public health unit, Portugal, January 2024
Euro Surveill. 2024 Apr;29(17). doi: 10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2024.29.17.240022.ABSTRACTIn January 2024, a child was diagnosed with measles in a paediatric hospital in Lisbon. Of 123 contacts, 39 (32%) were not fully immunised, presenting a risk for a potential outbreak. The public health unit initiated control measures and identified challenges during the response, such as the lack of interoperability between information systems and accessing vaccination records. The lessons learned prompted changes to national contact tracing procedures for measles, further strengthening Portugal's preparedness.PMID:38666402 | DOI:10.2807/15...

The effectiveness of a 6-month intervention with sit-stand workstation in office workers: Results from the SUFHA cluster randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Although not being effective for reducing sitting time, the implementation of sit-stand desks in the Portuguese workspace was shown to be feasible over the long term, received well by users, and may offer other health benefits.TRIAL REGISTRATION: OSF Registration, OSF.IO/JHGPW.
