[Tremor: A Clinical Guide For The Non-Neurologist].
Authors: Carvalho V, Massano J Abstract Tremor is the commonest involuntary movement. The differential diagnosis is wide, and can be challenging even for experienced neurologists. Nonetheless, many tremors have a benign etiology and clinical course and, in many cases, non-neurologists are able to clinically manage these situations. This manuscript approaches the different types of tremor, their diagnosis, main differential diagnoses, the desired clinical approach, and therapeutic options of the most important conditions in clinical practice. [H Factor Deficiency: A Case with an Atypical Presentation].
We report a case of an 18-month-old boy with H factor deficiency with atypical presentation: recurrent acute otitis media and several maternal family members with autoimmune disorders (vitiligo, thyroiditis and immune trombocytopenia). Blood tests revealed low C3 and AH50, as well as low properdin and H factor. I factor was normal. CFH gene molecular test confirmed the H factor deficiency diagnosis. This child had none of the typical manifestations of this disorder, namely Neisseria meningitidis infection or renal disease (glomerulonephritis and atypical haemolytic uremic syndrome). Autoimmune family history and correct in...

[Human Psittacosis: A Case Report].
We describe a case of a 42-year-old woman, with known exposure to birds, who presented to the emergency department with one-week evolution of myalgia, polyarthritis, and respiratory symptoms. At admission, she had fever, respiratory failure, raised inflammatory markers and bilateral interstitial infiltrates at chest radiography. Considering the clinical findings and epidemiological background, we raised the hypothesis of a Chlamydophila psittaci atypical pneumonia that was serologically confirmed. Tetracyclines are the mainstay of treatment and the macrolides are an effective alternative. We highlight the importance of the...

Authors: Guimarães R, Guimarães M, Sousa N, Ferreira A Abstract The authors address the legal void that exists regarding medical student access to clinical records and health information that local healthcare organizations hold under legal and institutional custody. They develop a legal thesis that configures the creation of medical student professional secrecy and its connection with the duty of confidentiality as assumptions that underlie the medical student's right to access and reuse health information. Medical students have the legitimacy to access health information and clinical records, as they...

However, a primary peritoneal infection in previously healthy patients may also ensue. There has been an increase in reported cases of primary peritonitis due to Streptococcus pyogenes affecting mostly women. It usually presents as a severe acute abdominal pain, which prompts surgical exploration. Although infected ascitic fluid is seen, there is no rupture.
