Tea contamination by mycotoxins and azole-resistant mycobiota - The need of a One Health approach to tackle exposures
Int J Food Microbiol. 2022 Nov 11;385:110015. doi: 10.1016/j.ijfoodmicro.2022.110015. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDespite tea beneficial health effects, there is a substantial risk of tea contamination by harmful pathogens and mycotoxins. A total of 40 tea samples (17 green (raw) tea; 13 black (fermented) tea; 10 herbal infusions or white tea) were purchased from different markets located in Lisbon district during 2020. All products were directly available to consumers either in bulk (13) and or in individual packages (27). Bacterial analysis was performed by inoculating 150 μL of samples extracts in tryptic soy agar (T...

Enhanced Isolation of < em > Streptomyces < /em > from Different Soil Habitats in Calamba City, Laguna, Philippines using a Modified Integrated Approach
Int J Microbiol. 2022 Oct 26;2022:2598963. doi: 10.1155/2022/2598963. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTStreptomyces species are considered to be the most prolific sources of various bioactive secondary metabolites that are important for antibiotic production. Here, we describe a modified integrated approach to isolate Streptomyces species from diverse soil habitats, such as dumpsite, garden, forest, grassland, and riverside in Calamba City, Laguna, Philippines. A total of 25 soil samples were collected from a depth of 0-20 cm using systematic random soil sampling. All soil samples were air-dried, crushed, pretreated with calcium c...
