Amlodipine inhibits the proliferation and migration of esophageal carcinoma cells through the induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress
CONCLUSION: Collectively, we demonstrate for the first time that amlodipine promotes apoptosis, induces autophagy, and inhibits migration through ER stress, thereby exerting anti-tumor effects in EC.PMID:38313237 | PMC:PMC10835542 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i4.367 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology)

Painful left bundle branch block
A 76-year-old man with long-standing hypertension treated with perindopril/amlodipine combination presented with a one-month history of angina on exertion accompanied by dyspnea and pain in the left arm. A few months before, propafenone at 2  × 300 mg daily was prescribed for frequent symptomatic supraventricular extrasystoles (Figure 1). Physical examination revealed no abnormality, his blood pressure was 120/70 mmHg, and his heart rate was 60 bpm. Apart from mild hypercholesterolemia, laboratory examination showed no other abnorm ality. (Source: The American Journal of Medicine)

Changes in Tablet Color Due to Light Irradiation: Photodegradation of the Coating Polymer, Hypromellose, by Titanium Dioxide
In this study, tablets comprising amlodipine besylate (AB), a well-known light-sensitive drug, were coated with commonly used coating materials and exposed to light. Compared to the tablets that were not exposed to light, the color of those exposed to light changed over time. In fact, a faster and more pronounced color change was observed in the tablets exposed to light; however, the amount of AB did not decrease significantly in these tablets. The coating materials and their amounts were varied to clarify the materials involved in the color change. Based on the results, titanium dioxide and hypromellose may be involved in...

Efficacy and safety of olmesartan medoxomil ‑amlodipine besylate tablets (Sevikar < sup > ® < /sup > ) in older patients with essential hypertension: Subgroup analysis from the Sevikar study
In conclusion, OM-AML tablets may be considered effective and safe in lowering BP, enabling the achievement of guideline-recommended BP targets in older Chinese patients with essential hypertension.PMID:38234624 | PMC:PMC10790165 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2023.12338 (Source: Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine)

Effects of benidipine and amlodipine on viability of right deep circumflex iliac artery perforator flap: an experimental rat-model of reconstructive surgery
ConclusionsPresent study showed that the benidipine reduced ischemic damage and necrosis and increased viability in DCIA perforator flap as much as amlodipine did, but not significantly. The benidipine was found to be at least as effective as amlodipine in terms of amelioration of blood flow and angiogenesis in perforator flaps. Underlying mechanisms dose-dependent relationship should be clearly demonstrated in further studies.  Level of evidence: Not ratable (Source: European Journal of Plastic Surgery)

288 Amlodipine versus nifedipine ER for the management of postpartum hypertension: a noninferiority randomized controlled trial
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are a leading cause of maternal morbidity, yet data comparing postpartum hypertension (PPHTN) medications are limited. We sought to compare the effectiveness of 2 dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers: amlodipine, which is often used as first-line monotherapy for non-obstetric hypertension, and nifedipine ER, which is frequently used for PPHTN. We hypothesized that amlodipine is non-inferior to nifedipine ER for PPHTN control, as defined by time from delivery until discharge (PPLOS). (Source: American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology)

The Efficacy of Single-pill Combination of Olmesartan Medoxomil and Amlodipine Besylate on Office Blood Pressure in Hypertensive Patients who did not Respond to Amlodipine Besylate Monotherapy
CONCLUSION: SPC (OLM 20 mg/AML 5 mg) treatment for 8 weeks was effective in reducing BP, achieving target BP goal, and also improving arterial stiffness in uncontrolled hypertensive patients with AML 5 mg monotherapy.PMID:38152599 | PMC:PMC10751208 | DOI:10.5049/EBP.2023.21.2.45 (Source: Electrolyte and Blood Pressure)
