Nintedanib in systemic sclerosis treatment: a case report
ConclusionTreatment with nintedanib is crucial for slowing lung function decline. Diarrhea was the most common adverse event. Scleroderma renal crisis occurs in 10% of patients and typically presents with an abrupt onset of hypertension and kidney failure. The optimal antihypertensive agent for scleroderma renal crisis is an ACE inhibitor. The mainstay of therapy in scleroderma renal crisis has been shown to improve or stabilize renal function in approximately 70% of patients and improve survival in nearly 80% at 1  year. Nintedanib may be effective, and fairly safe to use. Further exploration is anticipated to advance a ...

Spontaneous resolution of a patient with a symptomatic pheochromocytoma
A 56-year-old woman presents with a two-year history of chronic persistent right upper quadrant abdominal pain that was associated with intermittent nausea, vomiting and unintentional weight loss. She has been on antihypertensive treatment, i.e. hydrochlorothiazide and amlodipine, for two years. Her blood pressure, 125/73mmHg, was well controlled and did not appear to be labile. She had tenderness in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen with no palpable masses. Oral analgesia was prescribed for the pain. (Source: The American Journal of Medicine)

Single-Pill, Triple Antihypertensive Therapy in Rural Sub-Saharan Africa: Preliminary Experience
CONCLUSIONS: These results provide real-life evidence that hypertension management with a once-daily, single-pill combination of olmesartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide as initial treatment is feasible and effective also in a rural sub-Saharan setting. Single-pill combinations should be made available also in rural and remote areas in low- and middle-income countries as a reliable first-line treatment strategy.PMID:38345713 | DOI:10.1007/s40119-024-00358-5 (Source: Rural Remote Health)

Da-Chuan-Xiong Decoction Ameliorates Sodium Sensitivity and Plasma Norepinephrine via Attenuation of Brain Oxidative Stress in the DOCA-Salt Hypertensive Rats
CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that the depressor action and sympathetic inhibition of DCXD on salt-sensitive hypertension may be by ameliorating brain sodium sensitivity, modulating ENaC function, and inhibiting the expression of ENaC and NADPH oxidase in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus.PMID:38344148 | PMC:PMC10857883 | DOI:10.1155/2024/2226143 (Source: International Journal of Hypertension)

Effectiveness of perindopril/amlodipine fixed-dose combination in the treatment of hypertension: a systematic review
Conclusion: In summary, our analysis confirms the effectiveness of perindopril/amlodipine FDC in lowering blood pressure, with combination therapy outperforming monotherapy and placebo. Although mild adverse reactions were observed in a small subset of participants, cost-effectiveness assessments for this treatment remain lacking in the literature.
