Biodegradable Electrospun Nanofibers: A New Approach For Rhinosinusitis Treatment
This study aimed to develop biodegradable polymeric nanofibers and explore the safety of these fibers in an in vivo rabbit model. The nanofibers' development has been optimized using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) obtained with Design of Experiments (DoE) with the best conditions related to the polymer concentration and proportion of solvents used in the electrospinning process. The nanofibers were prepared, operating as a determinant factor, the nanofiber formation and its diameter evaluated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The ideal system obtained was assessed by SEM, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ra...

Topically applied mometasone furoate improves dysphagia in adult eosinophilic esophagitis - results from a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: Our finding suggests that in adult patients with eosinophilic esophagitis, topical mometasone furoate exerts a beneficial effect compared with placebo regarding the main symptom, i.e., dysphagia. A corresponding benefit could not be verified regarding the various quality of life measurements.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: Mometasone-furoate for Treatment of Eosinophilic Esophagitis - a Randomized Placebo Controlled Study ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier (NCT02113267).PMID:33831327 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2021.1906314 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Dupilumab has an additional benefit in treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
CONCLUSION: For patients with severe CRSwNP inadequately controlled with INCS and systemic corticosteroids and/or surgery, there is an indication of a considerable additional benefit for the administration of dupilumab as an add-on therapy to INCS compared to mometasone furoate alone.PMID:33738558 | DOI:10.1007/s00106-021-01018-z (Source: HNO)

Impact of Payor-Initiated Switching of Inhaled Corticosteroids on Lung Function
To evaluate the impact of a payor-initiated formulary change in inhaled corticosteroid coverage on lung function in patients with asthma and on provider prescribing practices. This formulary change, undertaken in August 2016 by a Medicaid payor in Kentucky, eliminated coverage of beclomethasone dipropionate (BDP), a metered dose inhaler (MDI), in favor of mometasone furoate, available as MDI and dry powder inhaler (DPI). Use of Off-Label Nasal Steroid Irrigations in Long-Term Management of Chronic Rhinosinusitis
CONCLUSIONS: Nasal irrigation with corticosteroids is beneficial and safe for the treatment of CRS. Future RCTs controlling for type of surgical intervention, CRS pheno- and endo-type, as well as dosing and duration of nasal corticosteroid irrigations are warranted.PMID:33683979 | DOI:10.1177/0145561321998521 (Source: Ear, Nose and Throat Journal)

Health-Related Quality of Life Impairment Among Patients With Severe Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps in the SINUS-24 Trial
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is an inflammatory disease of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, with a high symptom burden and significant impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). This analysis compared baseline generic physical and mental HRQoL, and overall health status, of patients with severe CRSwNP on background mometasone furoate from the SINUS-24 (NCT02912468) study, with general population norms. Pharmacokinetics Of Indacaterol/Glycopyrronium/Mometasone Furoate In Healthy Chinese Volunteers: Results From A Randomized, Open-Label, Parallel-Group Study
Once-daily indacaterol/glycopyrronium/mometasone furoate (IND/GLY/MF) is the first inhaled long-acting muscarinic antagonist/long-acting β2-agonist/inhaled corticosteroid (LABA/LAMA/ICS) approved for maintenance treatment of asthma. The steady-state pharmacokinetics (PK) of IND, GLY and MF were characterized in healthy Chinese volunteers following multiple once-daily oral inhalations of IND/GLY/MF medium-dose (150/50/80 μg) or high -dose (150/50/160 μg).
