Locum Tenens Startup Company
Hi all, I'm in the infancy stages of starting a locum tenes company. I'm currently an administrator that has partnered with a pulmonologist to begin this company. I'm curious if there are other young ambitious physicians interested in being a part of this business? I'm happy to share more details via PM (Source: Student Doctor Network)

hospitalist job search
Hello Guys, I am trying to leave my current hospitalist job to move a bigger city (or closer to desirable major city - 1-2 hours). This would be my third full time job since residency (2017 grad). Been at last job for 2.5 years. My first job out of residency, I was underpaid (20$/hr less than my peers) by a CMG and I curse them out after I left. I also do locum jobs while working my full time job. I have a clean file. I have gone to 5 interviews so far and not one single offer. What am I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Negotiating call schedule in contract
I am about to sign my first job after fellowship and had a question about call frequency in the contract. I liked a job and I am in talks with the employer and am negotiating terms. They have 3 other physicians in the practice and I will be joining as the fourth. The employer says the contract would say that the call would be divided equally amongst the physicians, but they do not specify the call frequency as 1:4. They tell me that they have hired locums in the past when a physician has... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Types of work schedules in psych?
Going in to 3rd year soon and wanting to flesh out some questions, especially about work schedules and types of jobs in psych. For example, I find IM hospitalist shift work really appealing based on 7-on 7-off schedule and/or nocturnist positions that work ~10 nights/month and that’s it for 1 FTE, but is there anything similar for psych? Maybe for in patient? Or locums or PP? Part of me says I’d be more likely to enjoy the day-to-day work of say, typical outpatient M-F psych regardless of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums Private Practice Idea
Hi folks, I think the timing is right to be more aggressive with the critical care job market, and pursue higher compensation for our work. Specifically focused on the locums critical care job market, for now. I am looking to open a discussion with fellow critical care docs with an entrepreneurial spirit. I have a collaborative idea to throw around that seems interesting, if not profitable. As the focus is on locums, I am looking for people with the ability to travel and cover out of... US Virgin Islands/Locums Negotiation
Hey all, I have a buddy that lives on St. Thomas and I love it down there. Would ideally spend 1-2 months there yearly and I’m wondering if anyone has experience on any of the USVIs and setting up a locums job there. I’ve heard varying things about pay and recruiters - ideally I would set up my own position. Advice for setting up your own locums job and negotiating is also appreciated - have not done it before and trying to learn. Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums contract language tip(s)
For the new and old alike. This from a friend (of a friend). He/she works a few days a week and is at a similar point in career to myself. Their reply to a desperate locums recruiter follows: "Thank you kindly for reaching out. I currently work 3-4 days a week leaving one day available consistently and a second day occasionally. The rate I charge for a weekday from 6:30-3p is $500/hr. I would be willing to consider XYZ Medical Center only and no OB. My rates change outside of the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Realistic hourly rate for nocturnist locums?
What is a realistic hourly rate these days for nocturnist locum jobs? I am thinking specifically suburban/rural and open ICU (I imagine this setting pays the most but I could be wrong). Ideally jobs that are open to both FM and IM. I am posting this on the IM forum since you all do much more hospitalist work than FM on average. My very uneducated guess is $170-180/hr based on what full-time nocturnists make yearly. But, it would be sweet if it was more like $200+/hr Also, did locums... Prison Job - Worth the Risks?
So I've been talking to a recruiter and I've been told about a prison job in a state prison system. It will be locums, 1099. No benefits. 2 weeks off a year unpaid. No sick time. Luckily I have a spouse who gets healthcare and full benefits for us through her non-medical job. BUT, the pay is high. 4x10s seeing 10-15 patients a day, 12 month contract with option to renew, $335/hr. Works out to 670k a year. I would completely be able to pay off my 300k in student loans in one year. I'm sure... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Primary Care Locums Rates
Hey all, I will be leaving my current employer and will try telemedicine/locums for a bit. I plan to do a mix of both to mix up. 10 full sessions of primary care/week has def taken a toll with the pandemic : (. Im writing to ask what hourly rates people are seeing for in person locums. I know RNs are reporting increased rates at this time, is this similar in Family Med? Specifically, Is $200/hour crazy or will they laugh me out of the room? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

cardiology locums
anyone have any recent experience with cardiology locum rates? the only things I've seen on this board is >5 years ago. I have some free time between fellowship and starting my job and was curious on what people have been getting. Locum companies have been coy as well, but mostly just looking for a range (eg is like 1000/day for a week of clinic, or is it like 15k/week). fwiw, going rate on hospitalist locum gigs is like 150-250 bucks/hr, so.... Locum in Canada
Does anyone have experience locuming in Canada? I've been doing lots of stints in Australia and want to head over there for a couple years and travel around. But there don't seem to be too many jobs openly advertised, and the physician locum companies I've contacted all appear to be identity fraud scams! Any suggestions for companies, or direct contacts? Deciding on 3 options re:wisest path toward opening Solo Pain practice
Hey folks, This is a question for those of you who are either currently Solo Pain docs , have worked as solo in the past, or have a solid handle/experience on the business aspect of Pain management. I’ve worked in academic Pain practice and will leave that job soon. I did some locum in the past. I bill for my own visits and procedures, not much else in terms of managing/financial stuff at that job. I want to go solo in the next 1-2 years, but I don’t have much experience with the business...
