License Address
So just wondering what address you all use on your medical license? I’ve used my home address before, but thanks to lax laws for privacy of this, a simple google search reveals my home address. Didn’t think it was a big deal until I was visited at home by a seeker that I gave no opiates to. I do locums so I cannot register a job address... Thanks!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

References and credentialling- Locums
1. This is specific for those who have worked locums: How do locums providers handle the hassle of multiple past hospitals that will need to be verified at each new site? Have you had significant delays starting a new job because of this? Credentialling typically takes 90 days so I can imagine it can take longer with a longer list of places to verify. 2. Concerning reference, how do you handle this? Specifically, do you ask the same three to five people? And does this raise some questions... Can you work for CVS and Costco at the same time?
I'm working for CVS, but I am not getting enough hours. They promised me 30 per week, but I'm not even getting that much. I sort of socially know the Costco manager. He said he's full, but he needs occasional help and says the staffing agencies are worthless. He said he could hire me to fill in for sick days or vacations. Is it okay to work for CVS and CostCo at the same time? They aren't really in direct competition since Costco is a warehouse club that requires a paid membership. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Living the dream
My uncle who graduated from his emergency medicine residency three years ago is living the dream. He works 10 shifts per month, 5 in the beginning of the month and 5 in the last week of the month (all 12 hour shifts) he works locums only (texas). For the more than two weeks he has in between his shifts, he travels the world and does a lot of mission trips in Africa! Who else knows someone living this type of lifestyle, do you think its feasible for the long term? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

applying for state license
I finished my internship year and had planned to work locum tenens in a neighboring state that required only 1 year to get licensed. However, even though the license and individual jobs require only 1 year, the locums companies require 6 months of experience outside of residency. I can't get experience if I can't get hired but I can't get hired without the experience! I'm not working and being away from patients is killing my chances. I don't want to get a license because I don't know what... applying for state license (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locum Etiquette
I finally finished the credentialing process at a well known locums company with the hopes of supplementing my income. Just today one of the recruiters offered me a few shifts at a FSED. 210/hr in Texas which I think was a bit low. I declined saying the rate was comparable with my current job, basically told the guy point blank that I would just work an extra shift at my current shop rather than doing a locum elsewhere if the hourly wasn't competitive. So he countered asking what minimum... Locum Etiquette (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help! CRNAs and 1099s
We're a small pp group at an undesirable location. Recently, perhaps due to the percentage of locums we had, the state came in to see why we had so many 1099s. Long story short, since CRNAs require supervision, and we provide them with all the tools they need to do their job, they're not considered "independent contractors" by the state (or the 2 law firms we asked). We'd lose all our locums if we force them into W2s. Has anyone had to deal with this before? How can we justify a CRNA as 1099? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Malpractice insurance

Northstar losing YET ANOTHER contract? AMC's in death throes?
This time reportedly right here in Tejas (Corpus Christi to be exact), which is their home field. No doubt the hospital likely grew tired of paying millions more than projected. The doctors (and the CRNA's as well) are now trying what to do next due to no-competes, etc (sell the house?? move the kids??). Cautionary tale for anyone entertaining an AMC job 1. Treat it like a locums gig and do it for (transparent) locums pay. 2. Always keep a foot in (day a week, etc) with another group so... Northstar losing YET ANOTHER contract? AMC's in death throes? Pure Locums Opportunities
If an individual was purely looking to do locums, would it be fairly easy to find jobs in desirable areas paying in the $150-200/hr range? Would also be open to taking assignments in higher paying areas if it meant short bursts away from home. I've got a spouse with full benefits so no need for that...just want to maximize income while balancing time off to spend with fam. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums Tenens doctors
I'm not sure how many here have experience relevant to my situation but any advice would be appreciated! I'm a solo pain doctor within an orthopedic surgery group and at some point I will be going on maternity leave. I'm not sure what to do about coverage when I'm gone. 1) I could redirect my patients to colleagues I trust, and risk that the patients don't come back to me 2) I could hire a locums tenens pain doctor, which may be difficult to find a responsible physician in a specific... Hospitalist contract
Hi all, I was asked to sign an agreement that asks for the hospitalists to take a day off randomly if the census is low. Troublesome as this sounds like a locum job for regular salary? How can anyone have a flex schedule to this extent? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
