Attendings: do you pay your tax all at once or throughout the year?
I know many of you don’t work employment but rather contract or locums. Do you pay your entire tax bill at once or do you have your group/agency withhold it throughout the year? I would get so much anxiety having to pay $100k in one lump sum…. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Adjuvant clobazam
Dear colleagues, I am not a neurologist but I just wanted to learn something. I was doing a locum shift at a small rural hospital when somebody presented with a first episode self-limiting focal aware seizure after GBM resection + chemoradiotherapy several months ago. CTB showed stable findings c/f one a month ago. I loaded with Keppra 1.5g PO. I was going to send them home on Keppra 750mg BD with outpatient follow-up. Neurologist was happy but also wanted a few days of 10mg BD clobazam... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums vs tele
1) is it possible to find locum or tele jobs where I can only do 3-5 days a month to add on to my hospitalist job? 2) are there any telestroke only jobs or do I always have to do general neurology too? ( just want to see acute stroke consults ) 3) which one pays more, locums or tele? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums unlawfully broke contract x 2, advice regarding litigation, finding lawyer
Hello, I had two locums companies canceling assignment despite contract and schedule contract being signed in the past year, providing no explanation as to why it was canceled. Both canceled about a week prior to beginning of shift, and in one case had to obtain a DEA which cost $880. In both cases, there were some red flags about client / locums that prompted me to request cancellation of assignment, but locums applied pressure (including threatening litigation) before they canceled on me... LOCUMS anesthesia agencies, the good, the bad and the ugly
As you know locums has exploded for anesthesiologists which is great, but the bad is anytime there is money, someone is always trying to make money off of you. Just want to place a quorum as to good and bad agencies and also a little info. I learned about "name clear" which is basically an agency placing ownership on your npi as working with them exclusively for a 1-2 year period. Watch out some will do it with just an inquiry, i.e. if you provide your cv in exchange for more information... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Kalispell, Montana, MD only
We have concluded negotiations with our hospital, and minted a new 5-year agreement, with 2.5 years guaranteed. Due to expansion, one partner quitting to do full time locums, and a few of us planning on going part time, we have space for up to 4 additional partners, including one BC/BE Pediatrics. We would also be interested in recruiting someone with OR management interest and experience. Open to hiring someone who is currently in training. This is a great lifestyle practice, in a...
