Reasonable rate for inpatient weekend?
I'm considering a part-time position covering weekends at an academic inpatient unit. Responsibilities include rounding on 20-24 patients with a resident on Saturday and Sunday and taking phone call Saturday night to staff ED and floor consults. Discharges typically don't occur unless planned by the weekday teams. You can leave after rounding - you just need to be available by phone. Malpractice is provided. This is in a high cost of living area. What would be a reasonable rate for this in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to handle your first litigation
Hit with my first lawsuit from a case while I was a resident back in 2017. I live in Oklahoma where laws are ok. Apparently the law firm found a way to sue for personal injury and defamation of character due to 'improper and fraudulent physical exam' which led to lack of patient being able to acquire disability money for the time he was denied (stating i didn't say he was sick enough and he got declined because of that). They went around the med mal noting there was not malpractice and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

malpractice insurance
Hey, I was wondering if anyone has any input on malpractice insurance companies they'd recommend? I am a soon to be attending in psychiatry and there are so many companies I'm not sure where to start. I will only be working part time and practice in WI if that helps. I am not as much concerned about price. I am more concerned about ensuring there is good coverage and service should a patient ever file a claim against me (no one in mind of course, but you never know, I've still got my whole... DSO contracts/experience
How negotiable is a contract with a DSO? If I already have things like disability, malpractice, health, and vision insurance, can I negotiate to not have those things and receive a higher minimum, sign on bonus, or higher collections? Also, I'm seeing a lot people talk about DSOs trying everything they can to not pay daily guarantee, sign-on bonus, and correct collections... What are the things to look at for to make sure all money is received correctly? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Malpractice insurance
Any suggestions for malpractice insurance for recently trained AEGD dentist? What kind of coverage? Best company to go through? If I work at an office that provides malpractice insurance is it wise/necessary to still have my own? What kind of coverages is sufficient? Sorry I’m a little unfamiliar with malpractice insurance.. Is it similar to disability insurance with its complexity? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hi All, Let's say you cover sporting events or teams outside of clinic. 1. Does your normal malpractice policy cover you? 2. If no, who do you use to get malpractice coverage? How much does it cost? 3. Does the team you are covering pay for this policy, or do you? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I've been offered a contract as a 1099 locums at the local hospital. However, I have to provide my own malpractice insurance. Anyone have recommendations for which insurance carrier I should use? What are the typical rates/premium for carrying my own malpractice for 3-6 months? I assume I would need to get tail coverage even after a short assignment? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I put this research experience under the research activity section which was done while taking courses?
While I was in the nursing program. I had three different courses that required research. 1. Two people were teamed up to do research about alternative pain management techniques, required to read several articles, and had to do a poster presentation in class like a conference. 2. The name of this course was literally Research: the team of 4-5 people was assigned to common hospital malpractice? or mistakes such as urinary catheter infection, fall precaution, and patient identification... Benefits and cons of working for fqhc
Hi friends, I know at least one of the active members of our community works at an FQHC.- I think anonperson? I saw the recent post about the malpractice insurance and had some more questions and have become interested in this population. I'm kind of getting tired of the metric for my bonuses raising higher and higher in private practice. It's getting too stressful. For general OBGYN, is FQHC patient population worse than a tertiary care residency hospital? Are there issues with working... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Double Billing with One Provider
Is it an insurance malpractice or a professional malpractice to perform interventional pain procedures while giving nurse directed anesthesia at the same time (versed without another CRNA/AA/MD). The bill to the patient will be for both monitored anesthesia care sedation and for the pain procedure. What if the patient is willing to pay cash? I’m asking since I’ve seen this being practice in other locations and wondering if it was taboo because we work with insurance companies who set the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
