Malpractice for part time side gig
Anyone find competitive malpractice for a side gig in private concierge practice? Very occasional. Maybe… 3-4 cases a month. Urgent care level acuity. Best quote I got so far was MiEC, five year policy, first year at $2k but with escalators up to $6k at end of year five (not sure why this is so). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Average Malpractice Insurance Costs?
Anyone have an idea of the average malpractice insurance costs? I am looking for an 1M/3M occurrence policy. I would be doing implant placement and some surgical EXT, probably to include some impacted 3rds. I have been practicing for 5 years in the military, and am about to go into civilian practice as an associate. I am an AGD member and ADA member. Checked Dentist's Advantage, quoted at $2,441 for one year payment (or $2716 if you break it up in months, ~226/mo) - that's with the 15% AGD... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

US Malpractice environment reduces productivity
I'm just thinking with the shortage of docs, pressure at my last job was to see more and more patients. I would see follow ups for 30 minute appointments typically, never scheduling shorter appointments. My main anxiety was about missing something, not having time for crisis management, making a mistake, and ultimately malpractice claim and/or board complaint. Longer appointments IMO also means better care, for the above reasons. However, if risk of malpractice was removed and expectation as... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Just need to vent
I am lucky to be working in an upscale neighborhood but the pay is not upscale. 30% of collections but they cover malpractice and 50% of health insurance. Everywhere has tip jars so I figured why the hell not and put a tip jar at the front desk for me and the medical assistant to split. It was collecting about $30-40 a day and then the boss found out. He started to take the jar and then only gave me 30% of it. I told him these are gifts and I have 3 kids to feed this is BS, these are... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should associate dentists buy their own malpractice insurance even if their employer offers it?
If your practice owner or DSO offers you malpractice insurance, should you still purchase your own anyway? Here are some scenarios that I've read about: You are being sued, the owner believes you were negligent and fires you before the case is adjudicated, leaving you uninsured. If he doesn't fire you, he might sue you to recover the payment made on your behalf, which might bankrupt you. The owner allows his (and your) malpractice coverage to lapse, leaving you unknowingly... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Shadowing for malpractice cases in NY
Hello everyone, I am PGY-4, interested on shadowing/working on Malpractice/Litigation cases so as to learn more about the process involved and in a way looking it as an opportunity to learn from it about ways of safeguarding oneself from these kind of events. Would really appreciate if someone could recommend me about any such kind of shadowing opportunities in NY or any refs for book/conference exclusively dealing with such. Thanks in advance. Snf?
Posting again from Pain Forum. I'm anesthesia trained and in a clinic that has expanded into new territory. volume is growing but only modest. I was thinking of cold calling local SNFs . anyone here ever do SNF? how did you start the process? strictly med mgmt ? was it monthly visits? bi weekly or weekly? did you find those that d/c'd from SNF end up in your clinic eventually? any red flag issues or logistical issues or unforeseen concerns that bother you? any potential for malpractice... Prediction time...
Decided not to put the rest in the thread title... Prediction: SDN will be sited in a malpractice case arguing for inferior/lack of uniform training of podiatrists... disclosure: I have no inside knowledge about this occuring...just a prediction. Thought of this reviewing a Twitter thread on medmal and how NP cases can offer not be reviewed by MDs because the are not peers... Edit: Crap just realized the can of worms I potentially opened....this has nothing to do with NPs. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Part time malpractice insurance
I'm just inquiring to see if anyone knows of any good resources for low cost part time or "per patient" malpractice insurance? It would have to include a tail. I appreciate it. Best regards, MrFlyGuy (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anesthesia fellow moonlighting
Hey, I’m a Ca-3 doing a cardiac fellowship. Just found out fellows can moonlight outside the main academic hospital. I would like to setup some Locum opportunities in the same state. I have applied for my license in that state but not gotten it yet. My question is, at what point can I contact hospitals about locums? Should I wait until I finish residency? Also what else do I need to do to setup myself for locums? Make an LLC? Get my own malpractice? Really starting out fresh here so any... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
