Absence of Lobular Carcinoma In Situ is a Poor Prognostic Marker in Invasive Lobular Carcinoma

Predictors of Early Versus Late Recurrence in Invasive Lobular Carcinoma of the Breast: Impact of Local and Systemic Therapy
CONCLUSION: Factors related to tumor aggressiveness and treatment were associated with early recurrence, whereas patient related factors were related to late recurrence. These data may help guide treatment strategies and surveillance approaches for patients with ILC.PMID:37464134 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13881-x (Source: Ann Oncol)

Association of body mass index with clinicopathological features and survival in patients with primary invasive lobular breast cancer
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) represents up to 15% of all breast carcinomas. While the proportion of women with overweight and obesity increases globally, the impact of body mass index (BMI) at primary diagnosis on clinicopathological features of ILC and the prognosis of the patients has not been investigated yet. Case report: A rare case of tumor-to-tumor metastasis: metastatic lobular breast carcinoma to clear cell renal cell carcinoma
We present a 66-year-old female patient with an invasive lobular carcinoma history who was admitted to the hospital with a right renal mass. The patient received partial nephrectomy. The final established diagnosis is lobular breast carcinoma metastasizing to clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Thus, although rare, the simultaneous or consecutive find of a renal mass in follow-up should be carefully evaluated, especially in high-risk patients, including women with an advanced breast cancer history, as in this scenario.PMID:37378074 | PMC:PMC10291080 | DOI:10.3389/pore.2023.1611204 (Source: Cell Research)

Short tandem repeat analysis: a practical tool to identify specimen mix-ups in the pathology laboratory
We present two cases in which short tandem repeat (STR) analysis was used to assert the correct identity of specimens. The first patient had a biopsy diagnosis of triple negative invasive carcinoma of no special type of the breast. Sample mix-up with another biopsy was suspected, because in her post-chemotherapy mastectomy specimen, a hormone receptor –positive lobular carcinoma was diagnosed. STR analysis displayed a complete common loci profile of the patient’s biopsy and mastectomy, supporting that no mix-up occurred. The second patient underwent hysterectomy due to cervix squamous cell carcinoma. A fragment of aden...
