< em > Lactiplantibacillus paraxiangfangensis < /em > sp. nov., isolated from traditional Chinese pickle
Int J Syst Evol Microbiol. 2024 Mar;74(3). doi: 10.1099/ijsem.0.006278.ABSTRACTThree Gram-stain-positive bacterial strains (designated 231-9T, 142-6 and 463-4) were isolated from traditional Chinese pickle, and were characterized using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. Results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strains 231-9T, 142-6 and 463-4 were phylogenetically related to the type strains of Lactiplantibacillus xiangfangensis, Lactiplantibacillus garii, Lactiplantibacillus carotarum, Lactiplantibacillus plajomi and Lactiplantibacillus modestisalitolerans, having 98.6-99.9 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarit...

An exploratory investigation of the CSF metabolic profile of HIV in a South African paediatric cohort using GCxGC-TOF/MS
ConclusionsThis study provided valuable insights on the impact of HIV on metabolic pathways, including damage to the gut and blood –brain barrier, disruption of bioenergetics processes, gliosis, and a potential marker for antiretroviral therapy. Nevertheless, the study recognized certain constraints, notably a limited sample size and the absence of a validation cohort. Despite these limitations, the rarity of the study’s fo cus on paediatric HIV research underscores the significance and unique contributions of its findings. (Source: Metabolomics)

Parameter Multiplexing-Based Terahertz Enhanced Absorption Spectra Using Ultrathin Metal Groove Array
This study demonstrates the enhancement of terahertz absorption spectra in bio-molecular materials by utilizing a metal groove array in geometry parameters multiplexing and the relationship between the enhancement characteristics and the thickness of the sample as well as the number of structural grooves. The results indicate that the absorption enhancement factor for a 0.1- μm-thick lactose sample is approximately 120 times. This design offers a better method for detecting bio-molecular materials.
