Hypoxia preconditioning of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells enhances proliferation and migration and promotes their homing via the HGF/C-MET signaling axis to augment the repair of acute liver failure
CONCLUSIONS: Hypoxic preconditioning depicted no impact on the morphology and phenotype features of the human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells, but it can promote their proliferation, migration, anti-apoptotic effect, and homing rate and improve the repair of acute liver failure, which might be mediated by the HGF/c-Met signaling axis.PMID:38442547 | DOI:10.1016/j.tice.2024.102326 (Source: Tissue and Cell)

Ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic stem cells in two/ three-dimensional co-cultures with various source of stromal cells
Tissue Cell. 2024 Feb 19;87:102331. doi: 10.1016/j.tice.2024.102331. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic stem cells, with both high quantities and quality, is considered a paramount issue in cell and gene therapy for hematological diseases. Complex interactions between the bone marrow microenvironment and hematopoietic stem cells reveal the importance of using 2D and 3D coculture as a physiological system simulator in the proliferation, differentiation, and homeostasis of HSCs. Herein, the capacity of mesenchymal stem cells derived from different sources to support the expansion and mainten...

Overexpression of ETV2 in BMSCs promoted wound healing in cutaneous wound mice by triggering the differentiation of BMSCs into endothelial cells and modulating the transformation of M1 phenotype macrophages to M2 phenotype macrophages
In conclusion, this study revealed a novel biofunction of ETV2 molecule in the wound healing process. ETV2 overexpression in BMSCs promoted wound healing in CW mice by triggering BMSCs differentiation into endothelial cells and modulating the transformation of M1 pro-inflammatory and M2 anti-inflammatory macrophages in vitro and in vivo.PMID:38430850 | DOI:10.1016/j.tice.2024.102334 (Source: Tissue and Cell)

The promising prospect of human hair follicle regeneration in the shadow of new tissue engineering strategies
Tissue Cell. 2024 Feb 28;87:102338. doi: 10.1016/j.tice.2024.102338. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHair loss disorder (alopecia) affects numerous people around the world. The low effectiveness and numerous side effects of common treatments have prompted researchers to investigate alternative and effective solutions. Hair follicle (HF) bioengineering is the knowledge of using hair-inductive (trichogenic) cells. Most bioengineering-based approaches focus on regenerating folliculogenesis through manipulation of regulators of physical/molecular properties in the HF niche. Despite the high potential of cell therapy, no cell pro...

A comprehensive exploration of diverse skin cell types in the limb of the desert tortoise (Testudo graeca) through light, transmission, scanning electron microscopy, and immunofluorescence techniques
Tissue Cell. 2024 Feb 23;87:102335. doi: 10.1016/j.tice.2024.102335. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe Greek tortoise, inhabiting harsh desert environments, provides a compelling case for investigating skin adaptations to extreme conditions. We have utilized light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and immunofluorescence analysis to describe the structure of the arid-adapted limb skin in the Greek tortoise. Our aim was to identify the cell types that reflect the skin adaptation of this tortoise to arid conditions. Utilizing seven antibodies, we localized and elucidated t...
