Relative Effects of Various Factors on Ice Ball Formation and Ablation Zone Size During Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Cryoneurolysis: A Laboratory Investigation to Inform Clinical Practice and Future Research
ConclusionsPercutaneous probe design can significantly influence the effective cryoneurolysis zone; visualizing a nerve fully encompassed in an ice ball does not guarantee adequate treatment to induce the desired Wallerian degeneration because ice forms at temperatures between 0 and −20 °C, whereas only temperatures below −20 °C induce Wallerian degeneration. The correlation between temperatures in isolated pieces of meat and perfused human tissue remains unknown, and further research to evaluate these findings in situ appears highly warranted. Stellate Ganglion Block Improves Postoperative Sleep Quality and Analgesia in Patients with Breast Cancer: A Randomized Controlled Trial
ConclusionPreoperative ultrasound-guided SGB improves postoperative sleep quality and analgesia in patients undergoing breast cancer surgery. SGB may be a safe and practical treatment to enhance the postoperative quality of life in patients with breast cancer.Trial RegistrationThe study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2100046620, principal investigator: Kai Zeng, date of registration: 23 May 2021). Real-World Analysis of Clinical Characteristics, Treatment Patterns, and Patient-Reported Outcomes of Insufficient Responders and Responders to Prescribed Acute Migraine Treatment in China
ConclusionsMany patients with migraine in China are insufficient responders to AT, experiencing worse symptoms that lead to overall poorer quality of life than responders. This unmet need suggests that new effective treatment options are required for migraine. (Source: Pain and Therapy)

Effects of Different Doses of Esketamine on Pain Sensitivity of Patients Undergoing Thyroidectomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial
ConclusionsIntravenous injection of esketamine 0.4  mg·kg−1 before anesthesia induction is a suitable dose to reduce pain sensitivity in patients undergoing thyroidectomy without increasing adverse reactions. However, future research needs to be extended to other populations.Trial RegistrationRegistered at the Chinese Clinical Trials Registryhttp://www.chictr.org.cn/ (09/06/2022, ChiCTR-2200060741). Effect of Cognitive Load on Anticipatory Postural Adjustment Latency and its Relationship with Pain-Related Dysfunction in Non-specific Chronic Low Back Pain: A Cross-Sectional Study
ConclusionsCognitive load could induce APA delay in the right trunk muscles and co-activation pattern changes in bilateral trunk muscle APA in patients with NCLBP. The APA onset delay in multifidus is positively related to pain-related daily dysfunction.Trial RegistrationChiCTR2300068580 (retrospectively registered in February 23, 2023). Low Back Pain and Radiofrequency Denervation of Facet Joint: Beyond Pain Control —A Video Recording
AbstractChronic low back pain is often due to L5S1 instability resulting in facet joint syndrome. Patients suffering from low back pain may also have a gait pattern characterized by a reduced speed and a shorter, asymmetrical step in order to reduce pain. This case is of a patient with L5S1 instability that occurred after L1 to L5 lumbar stabilization who was treated with radiofrequency (RF) denervation of the medial branch of L5S1 bilaterally. RF ablation outcome was tested by comparing its impact on pain, function, quality of life, and on gait pattern, before and 1 month after the procedure. To objectify the impact of a ...

Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation Improves Postoperative Sleep Quality in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Tumor Surgery: A Prospective, Randomized Controlled Trial
ConclusionPerioperative TEAS improved postoperative sleep quality, reduced postoperative pain and alleviated postoperative adverse effects in patients undergoing laparoscopic gastrointestinal tumor surgery resection. This may be associated with activating Nrf2/ARE signal pathway and decreasing its inflammatory actions.Trial registrationChinese Clinical Trial Registry (http://www.chictr.org.cn/index.aspx), ChiCTR2100054971. COVID-19-Related Burning Eye Syndrome and Burning Mouth Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
ConclusionsBoth BES and BMS are neuropathic COVID-19 infection complications, still under-studied and under-investigated, despite the fact that both are prevalent. Both COVID-19-related BES and COVID-19-related BMS could potentially be initial long COVID syndrome manifestations, and further research should be carried out in this field.
