Application of Ultrasound-Guided Transversus Abdominis Plane Block Combined with Nalbuphine Patient-Controlled Intravenous Analgesia in Postoperative Analgesia After Laparotomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial
ConclusionsSufentanil PCIA and nalbuphine PCIA have equivalent analgesic effects, while TAPB combined with nalbuphine PCIA can ensure a good analgesic effect, thereby reducing the incidence of adverse reactions. (Source: Pain and Therapy)

Opioids in the Elderly Patients with Cognitive Impairment: A Narrative Review
ConclusionsOpioid prescription in the elderly population with cognitive impairment is particularly complex. All healthcare professionals involved in the care of such patients need to be aware of the challenges and strive to ensure analgesic use is guided by appropriate and accurate pain assessment. Migraine Outcome Should Not Be Used to Determine Diagnosis, Severity, and Therapy: Moving Towards a Multiparametric Definition of Chronicity
AbstractChronic migraine (CM) diagnosis is nowadays based on the threshold of 15 headache days/month for three consecutive months, of which at least eight have migraine headache features. In recent years, proposals for reducing the threshold to 8  days/month have been proposed. The sole frequency parameter, however, is partial considering the variability in frequency, pain severity, associated symptoms, such as nausea, osmophobia, and photophobia, and presence of aura, but also the variable response to treatment and the association with sev eral comorbidities. Therefore, in our opinion, a multiparameter perspective has to...

EEG Recordings as Biomarkers of Pain Perception: Where Do We Stand and Where to Go?
ConclusionAlthough no robust EEG biomarkers of pain perception have been identified yet, EEG has potential and future research should be attempted. Designing strong research protocols, controlling for potential risk of biases, as well as investigating brain networks rather than isolated cortical changes will be crucial in this attempt. Comparison the Effect of Pain Neuroscience and Pain Biomechanics Education on Neck Pain and Fear of Movement in Patients with Chronic Nonspecific Neck Pain During the COVID-19 Pandemic
ConclusionIn our study population PNE did not affect the pain index, leading to the conclusion that PNE should not be used as the only treatment, but possibly in combination with other active/passive therapy to enhance the results for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain. Moreover, online treatment may help clinicians to increase their interaction with patients during COVID-19 lockdown. (Source: Pain and Therapy)

Determining the Definitive Time Criterion for Postherpetic Neuralgia Using Infrared Thermographic Imaging
ConclusionsThe transition of skin temperature from warm to cold occurs 12  weeks after HZ onset, which implies the end of local inflammation. Therefore, PHN associated with pathophysiologic change may be defined as 12 weeks after the skin rash. This finding provides a theoretical basis for the timing definition of PHN. The Intraoperative Adherence to Multimodal Analgesia of Anesthesiologists: A Retrospective Study
ConclusionsAlthough anesthesiologists used more analgesics after promoting MMA, the “opioid-sparing” principle was not followed properly. The analgesic mode was not instructed by patients’ characteristics appropriately. In addition, surgeries with cumbersome preparation/process impeded the use of multiple analgesic modes, while senior anesthesiologists preferred multiple anal gesic modes. (Source: Pain and Therapy)

Prospective Association Between Inflammatory Markers and Knee Cartilage Volume Loss and Pain Trajectory
ConclusionsIL-6 was independently associated with compartment-specific CV loss and worse pain trajectory, but the other markers studied were not, suggesting that components of inflammation are implicated in the pathogenesis of cartilage loss and developing a worse pain course.
