Orbital Infiltration in a Patient with Waldenstr öm Macroglobulinemia: Need for Multidisciplinary Approach and Comparison with the Literature
The use of specific inhibitory drugs of intracellular signaling pathways (such as Bruton-Kinase inhibitors) for the treatment of Waldenstr öm ' s macroglobulinemia (WM) is a recognized risk factor forAspergillus spp. infections. The overlapping clinical manifestations of the two diseases may require the involvement of different medical specialties. (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Genetic predisposition to hematologic malignancies in childhood and adolescence
Advances in molecular biology and genetic testing have greatly improved our understanding of the genetic basis of hematologic malignancies and have enabled the identification of new cancer predisposition syndromes. The recognition of a germline mutation in a patient affected by a hematologic malignancy allows for a tailored treatment approach in order to minimize toxicities, and informs the donor selection for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as well as the comorbidities evaluation and surveillance strategies. This review provides an overview of germline mutations that predispose to hematologic malignancies, focusing...

Kaposi Sarcoma in people living with HIV: is it water under the bridge?
Kaposi Sarcoma (KS) is still common among people living with HIV (PLWH). A lot of literature illustrated risk factors associated with KS occurrence, while the aim of our study is to investigate possible factors influencing 5-year survival. Outcome of patients with diffuse large b-cell lymphoma relapsing after autologous transplant before availability of car-t cell treatment
Conclusions:Additional therapies can extend OS, but mostly cannot prevent death in DLBCL relapsing/refractory post-ASCT. This study may serve as reference to emerging results after CAR-T treatment in this population. (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

The EVOLVING ROLE OF HAEMATOLOGY NURSING PRACTICE: A CROSS-SECTIONAL SURVEY
Conclusions: This study describes haematology nursing care activities being performed in a range of contexts and within different nursing roles. It provides further evidence of nursing activity and may contribute to a core skills framework for haematology nurses. (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Prevalence of thalassemia in the vietnamese population and building a clinical decision support system for prenatal screening for thalassemia
Conclusions. When comparing the expert system with the AI-based CDSS, the accuracy of the expert system and AI-based models was found to be comparable. The developed expert system for prenatal thalassemia screening showed high accuracy. AI-based CDSS showed satisfactory results and can be applied in clinical practice. The impact of human platelet antigen allele on antiplatelet antibodies and cryoglobulins in patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia and hepatitis c virus-associated immune thrombocytopenia
ConclusionHPA alleles were associated with antiplatelet autoantibodies but had different impacts in the patients with primary ITP and HCV-ITP. The pathophysiology and characteristics of antiplatelet antibodies were different between these two groups. HCV-ITP was considered to be a symptom of mixed cryoglobulinemia in the HCV patients. Itpa polymorphisms and the incidence of toxicities in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Conclusions: HomITPA had a higher incidence of transaminitis and required a significantly larger dose reduction of 6-MP than wildtypeITPA. Further study is warranted to elucidate the effects ofITPA polymorphisms on toxicity in patients with ALL treated with 6-MP. (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Hematological abnormalities beyond lymphocytosis during infectious mononucleosis: epstein-barr virus-induced thrombocytopenia
Conclusions: Transient thrombocytopenia is common during infectious mononucleosis in adult patients. Patients with thrombocytopenia have distinct clinical and biologic features. Thrombocytopenia during infectious mononucleosis is typically mild. Cases of severe thrombocytopenia are rare and were not associated with hemorrhagic complications in this series. Levofloxacin prophylaxis versus no prophylaxis in acute myeloid leukemia during post-induction aplasia: a single center study
Conclusions:levofloxacin prophylaxis omissionwas not associated with an increased risk of induction death. Cumulative incidence of neutropenic fever was higher in non-prophylaxis group, while no difference was observed for BSIs.In the prophylaxis group we observed a higher incidence ofFQ resistant organisms.
