Nation-wide survey on the use of thrombopoietin receptor agonists (tpo-ra) for the management of immune thrombocytopenia in current clinical practice in italy
Conclusions:Significant discrepancies in the use of TPO-RA emerged from the survey and participants would appreciate a consensus-based specific guidance on the practical use of TPO-RA. (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Carboxyhemoglobin levels in preterm neonatal late-onset sepsis: to predict or not to predict
Conclusion:COHb levels increased at the beginning of LOS, decreasing in response to antibiotics. When used in conjunction with other sepsis biomarkers, the variation of COHb can be important in evaluating a LOS episode in preterm infants. COHb can be utilized as a quick, bedside approach for detecting LOS in preterm neonates in NICUs. (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Phenotypic and molecular detection of biofilm formation in methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus isolated from different clinical source in erbil city
Conclusions: The prevalence of biofilm encoding genes, which are associated with multidrug resistance inS. aureus strains, is high. Therefore, identification of epidemiology, molecular characteristics, and biofilm management ofS. aureus infection would be helpful. Sickle cell trait, clinical manifestations and outcomes: a cross-sectional study
Conclusions: Splenic complications were the most relevant in symptomatic patients. Most patientsreceived medical treatment,and18.5% of patients required splenectomy. Our results reflect the absence of redirection of these patients to genetic counseling.  (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Neutropen ıa Secondary to Sars-Cov2 Vaccınatıon in Post-Hematopoıetıc Stem Cell Transplant (Hsct) Patıents
We present several cases of neutropenia (defined as absolute neutrophil count (ANC) less than 2,000/mm3), after vaccination in hematopoietic progenitor transplant (HPT) recipients performed in our center during 2021.  (Source: Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases)

Levofloxacin prophylaxis versus no prophylaxis in acute myeloid leukemia during post-induction aplasia: a single center study
Conclusions:levofloxacin prophylaxis omissionwas not associated with an increased risk of induction death. Cumulative incidence of neutropenic fever was higher in non-prophylaxis group, while no difference was observed for BSIs.In the prophylaxis group we observed a higher incidence ofFQ resistant organisms. Hematological abnormalities beyond lymphocytosis during infectious mononucleosis: Epstein-Barr virus-induced thrombocytopenia
Conclusions: Transient thrombocytopenia is common during infectious mononucleosis in adult patients. Patients with thrombocytopenia have distinct clinical and biologic features. Thrombocytopenia during infectious mononucleosis is typically mild. Cases of severe thrombocytopenia are rare and were not associated with hemorrhagic complications in this series.
